I emailed my buds that are near Angeles Crest when we left Van Nuys and I realized that this Run was going to be pretty neat ... to meet up with us, if they took Angeles in direction of Palmdale. By the time Chad, still breaking in the Exige, got to the top of the hill we were already on our way down, and he then unfortunately followed a Porsche that peeled off to go home.

Did anyone find out anything about the person who supposedly went off the cliff? Bike? Lots of rescue gear, two ambulances, two CHP, two firetrucks, passed us going up the mountain.

The B2 flew over my house at 9:05am or so. Its was more than an hour delayed due to wing icing issues and missed the opening of the parade.

I was told it comes all the way from Whiteman AFB where all 20 are based. Whiteman is in Johnson Country Missouri SE of Topeka maybe 80 miles?

I wonder if those GT3's could have kept up with some of the blasts I made on that road in the Hemi Durango. }:) }:) }:) }:) }:) }:) }:) }:) }:) }:)
I wouldn't have been able to match cornering speeds with the SRT-4. It was so stiffly sprung and loose that in the bumpier sections it was a handful at 60-65+. The Durango was so nicely neutral that you could push to the limit with throttle control and soft enough to absorb the bumps without changing socks. Pretty sad, that I could go faster in my SUV than my STU. The blown right rear shock in the Neon probably didn't help matters.

Kyle and Kurt Williams must have had some of those track Porsches and other high end Porsche drivers wondering ... as they easily kept up with their unmarked Mazda Protoge ... which looked like it had accidentally entered our briskly moving convoy! }:) We enjoyed the remarks about the cute little Miata. 8-) I didn't realize how "serious" these runs could be. I had just taken off our good ST tires and put on the old worn out daily driver tires. Next year I think I'll be pulling the muffler and stiffening up the Penske's. We aren't all Williams ...

When we were accelerating away from the stop light to get onto the 405, the GT-3 in front of us suddenly braked to negotiate the dip in the road ... KAREN handled the late braking very well ....

... sounds like the same car ... but it was US, that was directly behind this GT-3:

What happened to the GT-2 that was parked with us before we left? I never saw him on the Run. Perhaps he WAS that much faster then us.

We passed two parked on the side of the road before crossing under the 14 ... we were slowing anyway. No problems ...

Probably a little too serious as I found myself traveling far faster on those roads than I ever would on my own - while keeping up/staying ahead of some rather pricey hardware. :o The Miata Hangover Run was much less intense and the speeds were a lot lower (mostly Miatas, duh!). Too bad it's no longer being done any more.

Kathy,

Next year collect a $20 from every one that sits down. Any one who has a beer give's you $40.

They will stick around looking for change, if there is any.

We couldn't find any evidence of a hole, nail, tear in the flat? Valve was also tight.

... well it did get worse for Kathy after we left her to check out Chad's new Exige while she tried to pay the restaurant bill. I't's NOT true that Doug said that she's good at washing dishes!
We found a slice in the side wall when we got home. Kathy hit a rock in the road.

Mako,
You were in Palmdale and you did't call us! The Albertsons parking lot you took the CSCC group photo in is a few miles from my house. It was also where i worked during college.

My most fun experience with a B2 was almost being knocked over while walking behind one with engines running.
