Doh. I've been sitting on a $40 ($52) reservation. If I had known you won @ $34, I would have started at $15!

I just got Hilton Garden Inn for $31. I was a little surprised because it's not really anywhere close to the Ontario circle on the map.

Holy crap Batman, that glut of new hotel rooms combined with this horrible economy has really caused prices to come down.e down. Wow. Nice job people.

I just got a room on Priceline for the tour. I was trying for a room in my preferred area, Sorrento Mesa. Started bidding at $35, 37, 39, 40, 42, 43, 45. Last year the price point was $40, but I haven't seen anything that low reported yet this year. It's possible that waiting my get you a lower price. I don't think getting a room at the last minute will be a problem.

Country Inn and Suites Sorrento Mesa 4/9 - 4/11
5975 Lusk Boulevard
San Diego, California 92121
858-558-1818

Regular room rates are around $85 per night plus tax. Includes free breakfast (one of the best in town),free parking, nice looking gym (obviously I've never used it), nice pool and whirlpool hot tub, and plenty of restaurants in the area.

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $45.00
Subtotal: $90.00
Taxes & Fees: $19.70
Total Charges*: $109.70

George-
I stayed there the year before we got the trailer and really liked it. Not as nice as the Doubletree or Hilton, but a lot better value. We picked it because I could fit the open trailer in their parking lot and I was coming down early.

Here's another hotel closer to Qualcomm that came up on the site I visit.

3* San Diego (Mission Valley) Holiday Inn Mission Valley, $44

This hotel is so-so, but only two off-ramps north of the stadium with a nice french restaurant (Jaques en zee Box) next door. I'd start the bidding around $40 for this one. Bidding this zone there's always a chance of getting hotel circle, a place I try to avoid.

Pricelined this place last year and this year...Right in the neighborhood of Qualcomm, but not with the traffic of Hotel Cirle.
$45, Kearny Mesa, 2.5? Stars.

Did you get this again Seb?

Keep in mind that with so many hotels now playing the Priceline game to get customers, the hotel you'll get is a crapshoot. The most likely outcome when bidding this area is that you'll end up in hotel circle. Another hotel I've gotten in that area is the Holiday Inn that is 2 off ramps north of the stadium. Free parking, uncomfortable beds. Otherwise OK.

If you think you'll get either of these based on star level, keep in mind that 3 and 3.5 star hotels many times are offering Priceline shoppers pricing below that of the 2.5 star offerings in order to get the clientele. They make up the difference by adding on parking or resort fees.

I got in the 3* "Doubletree Club Orange County Airport" which is in the Costa Mesa - Irvine area on Priceline for $40 for next weekend, Saturday night only.

I bid $35 yesterday, so the lowest price is right around there.

However dumb, I got the same place at $57/night for 3 nights (F/S/S). Just did not want to make the 405-OC Sunday PM trip. Done it before -miserable in a 6 speed vette. Hours of gear changes.

Let's put it this way: it should be re-named Motel Circle.
