Does this wheel exist?
17X8.5" or 17X9"
4X100 bolt pattern
ET38 to ET40 range
Think something might exist? Anyone have a thought? I think, if they are around, they might come from Honda land...
The only thing I've seen is something like a Works or other $600-700/ea custom racing wheel. What I'd like to find is a simple, one piece, spun cast, thin spoke (think Enkei, OZ etc) in the 15lbs (or less) range.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Does this wheel exist?
You could get something widened. Talk to Jim Reyenga, he had his Enkeis done before 17x9s were common for the S2000 fitment.

That's a great idea, but I wonder if you're into it custom wheel type money, when all is said and done?John Stimson wrote:You could get something widened. Talk to Jim Reyenga, he had his Enkeis done before 17x9s were common for the S2000 fitment.
It would be nice to have a custom offset RPF-01...

Team Dynamics makes the Pro Race 1.2 in 17x9 4x100 et35
Not sure of weight, but the same wheel 1" narrower (17x8) weighs 17 lbs. and costs alot more if you buy it from Lotus Motorsport attached the rear of an Exige Cup 260.

Re: Does this wheel exist?
Team Dynamics had some Pro 1.2 wheels made for my Mustang a few years ago---cost then $200 each and made to fit. It took about 4 weeks to get them from England but it was worth the wait. Give them a call--Robert Puertas wrote:Team Dynamics makes the Pro Race 1.2 in 17x9 4x100 et35

Re: Does this wheel exist?
thanks for all the ideas. It is appreciated.
I think it is going to come down to a custom job, as the offset is critical...that 3-4mm may be the difference between fitting and hitting stuff. I'll know more once I get the car and start measuring.
The Team Dynamics option has appeal, but given the application, I'd sure like something lighter than the 18# or so range that I'm guessing they'll come in at...still, that could be a great way to go. Fact is, rim weight tends to be overemphasized, when you look at actual calculated differences in rotational mass, unsprung weight and the implications in autocross.

Re: Does this wheel exist?
18 pounds is actually pretty good for a 17x9" wheel.
The lightest 17x8.5" wheels available for the S2000 were just over 17 pounds the last time I checked. And cost around $350 each. Not sure if the high offset (63mm) makes it harder to build something light. The stock wheels (and the same size stock wheels from the NSX) are close to 21 pounds.

My SM2 C5 on Bogarts. Very light, built right the first time (can't say that about some others ), never broke (can't say that about some others ).Bill Martin wrote:Bogart Racing Wheels does 17's and will do any fitment/offset you want. Just bring money.

I guess you guys missed the part about not wanting to spend $700/corner on an experiment?
Bogarts are pretty much super zoomy, though.

Damn newbie. There is no such thing as cheap and light - that is, outside of your choice in beer.Michael Wood wrote:I guess you guys missed the part about not wanting to spend $700/corner on an experiment?
