January 2012 Juniors

Post by Steve Ekstrand »

As we start out a new season, a few drivers signaled their intent to challenge the leaders. We had some great performances that I just wanted to point out so we can put a story with those buzzing little helmets chasing around the cones.

In JA, Kevin Teague took the win, but Kencey Christopher is flying and looks determined to take on Kevin for the season championship. Go Girl!!! When the Girl Scout cookies drop, the sugar rush might get it done.

In JB, Jacob Baltazar had a stunning breakthrough to challenge Kevin Jung who pulled off the win on his 4th lap. If the World Formula picks up any ground with the new slide restrictors coming soon, JB could get very interesting and Jacob could enter the talk for top JB in the country. Kevin Jung has already proven himself to be one of the toughest competitors in the country.

Also Bijan Yeoh, in the less competitive K80 powered JB kart stepped up his game big time and showed he's ready for the podium in our JB class. Well done!

Thanks to the whole region for the continued support of the Junior program! :gpower: :gpower: :gpower: :gpower:

Reminder to the parents that we need to be prepped and ready to run on time. Usually we are waiting on course workers or timing, this event we were waiting on parents. :mrt:  :mrt:

No question Kencey has been really improving. She really deserved the Most Improved Driver of 2011 award that she got at the banquet, and it's obvious she is still getting faster. I watched one of her runs on Saturday in the rain, and she carried a big slide through the sweeper with the foot held down for more power! It was great to watch. Kevin T. is convinced they will both be coming home with trophies at Lincoln. There could be a question of who is in front of who though!

And it looks like JB is going to be a fun battle this year also!
