That's a Blast From the Past: I worked for Saleen back in those days. That must be some good crack they're smokin'... those trucks weren't that expensive when they were new.

Oh, but it's RARE! If that class of racing had made an impact it would be different. Besides, you can an F-150 Lightning for that money.

That seller must like rare Ford vehicles. I've seen the same person sell a few of the old Bondurant School Cobra Crown Vics.

Hey Steve, did you know Joe Gosinski? He worked at Saleen too. He now has his own shop out in Torrance (Chicane Sport Tuning).

Heh, just like a Shelby Dakota. Except it's missing the V-8. And the Dakota looked better, imo.

I liked the Shelby Dakota's. Really wanted one when they were new but couldn't afford it.

The little red trucks were history for Mopar fans. When they could no longer use the really hot 340/360 parts on passenger cars, they put it in a pickup truck, geared it right, kept the weight down for a 1/2 ton truck and managed to build the fastest US production car of its day. I don't think I could personally drive around in a gas 1/2 ton with smoke stacks, but hey.... It was fast, and handled great for a truck.

A Lightning? Gorblimey!  You have no idea how exciting it is to drive a vehicle that makes you wonder whether you are going to arrive at your intended destination. You either need to have triple A's premium long range tow program or be close friends with someone who owns a towing company.

I haven't driven mine for over two years (or is it three, at my age I have difficulty remembering details)? No way it can pass smog. I am setting outside and planting flowers in the bed.

Handled great for a '70's truck.:) But they sure were fast (again, for the late 70's).

Funny that both Dodge and Ford offered big block 1/2 tons, but it wasn't until Chevy introduced the 454SS in 1990 that they offered a BB 1/2 ton truck.

The prototype testing Little Red Express truck ran 13.76 @ 119. Not bad for a low compression 360 powering a 1/2 ton P/U. That had to be the most conservative rated 225HP of alltime.
