Nov 4th Video

Post by Bobby Beyer »

Here is my fastest run from NOV 4th championship.
Fastest in class NOVSTF

Just got fresh revalved bilsteins and new Toyo R1R's so the car was a bit of a handful for me.

WooHoo!

PAX winning run: http://youtu.be/D2gACTng-Cc?hd=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sorry the video looks crappy, GoPros not known for their low-light performance, and I didn't have it on the right white balance setting. Did the best I could with iMovie.

Thanks Max!

Congrats, Jeff! Now everyone gets to share our SK2 pain from last year. :D

Here's my 2nd run, 61.723 for 4th place in SK2. Ignore the g-meter, it's all hosed up and I forgot to take it out before rendering.

If you are using a GoPro2 ... you can upgrade your firmware to the latest one, which includes the ProTune Option.

This will give you a lower contrast file ... perfect for our typically contrasty lighting, views through windshields and/or late afternoon sun in the picture situations.

Go to GoPro Support to see info on upgrading your firmware. Easiest is to download the free CineForm software ... which does the upload for you. Even with that, it can be a bit of a frustrating exercise. In CineForm, note under HELP in the Menu Bar ... "Device Window."

The new GoPro three's has ProTune pre-installed of course

I couldn't make it on Sunday, but here's a vid from Saturday's practice that I edited together from a few different runs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_cp09DeF6o" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My Fiero is back together now, but the Outback was so fun I think I might take it out to the next event instead!

I think I forgot to record for my fastest official run & the camera's battery ran out before my fastest x-run. So anyway, here's one of my runs :)

Yeah, the Outback was a real hoot to drive! Thanks for that! Wish I'd been able to take you up on that second offer!

A very significant thing I learned from driving Leonard's car is that I fit much better in an NC than an NB :D

I would have had video from Leonard's run in my car, but my GoPro battery was dead. I think I left it on over the lunch break :/

I was laughing at the end because I almost ran over like 10 birds in the middle of the run, you can see them fly away in the video

Not my moment of Glory! Heck, I never win! In fact, I've finished top 10 in PAX the last 3 or 4 events and can't even make the CASOC team! :lol:

Don't worry, George. I DID win, then made the team, and didn't win. So maybe being on the team is a jinx. Ya, that's it, it's the "team's" fault. :oops:

Mako, I just got the hero3 with the pro tune. Do you just turn it "on" or do you drill down to fine certain settings?

Just turn it on. Note that it's a lower compression, higher quality, low contrast setting that is designed to be optimized with adjustments to contrast and color saturation after shooting. You can use the free GoPro CineForm software to do that. Using the default Cineform ProTune Look Preset will negate the use of ProTune. You will want to use the Image Control Sliders to adjust the look to whatever you like.

But the flat ProTune look can be just right on a sunny contrasty day when you have the camera mounted inside and you're trying to see detail inside and outside the car.

That default ProTune CineForm look is the same as not using ProTune, so ... Experiment.
