Course Help Aug 7-9, 2015

Hello All,

I am doing something a little unorthodox for this next event. It is a very important weekend for us gearing up for the SCCA National Championship. I want ideas and thoughts on certain elements we would like to see. The layout will be as follows and WILL NOT CHANGE, so when putting in your input just remember I am only looking for certain features that hasn't crossed my mind as of late. I'm basically just taking a small poll on elements to use. This course I am shooting for no more than 60mph in an ST car (for reals this time).

Pick (3) elements you would like to see:

Offset Slalom
6 Cone Slalom
5 Cone Slalom
Decreasing Radius Sweeper
Increasing Radius Sweeper
Chicago Box
Eyebrow (Esses) Sweeper Slalom
Pin Turn
Sweeper Slalom
Offset Gates

Image

I will also need well experienced course workers for the weekend. As a reminder you will be required to work Friday (setup), Saturday (AM chalking-Lining/PM course swap), and Sunday (AM chalking). We will be covering a lot of area on the runways and will need all hands on deck.

Kids Course. I want to have an area for the kid karts to practice throughout the day. I have allocated space on the upper runway to facilitate a Kid's Course. Parents please take note and be ready to setup a course for your junior karters. This is hope that our junior karts get as much seat time as possible.

Course Setup Workers:
1) Guy Ankeny - Test N Tune
2) Kevin Pao
3)
4)
5) *tentative

Increasing radius sweeper (actually would prefer steady state, but ok)
Decreasing radius sweeper
(+1 on the no pin turn! :-) )

Typed by Mari, but with input from Eric and Jon, too.)

Probably would have been easier for you to set up a Poll (you can allow users to pick 3).

- Chicago Boxes

A poll is nice but i wanted the option for someone to spit out an element I haven't thought of yet. I've been looking at previous National courses and other regional events as well (ie. Milwaukee Region, ATL Region, DC Region) for elements we don't see.

I sometimes look at real tracks of the world shape wise for inspiration.
I remember trying to mimic a section of one of my course designs from the Chinese Grand Prix circuit when it first came out :)
Must of been turns 1-5 if I recall.

60mph max for an STU corvette means 45 in a civic...That sounds really slow.

Not if that top speed comes after a slalom that the civic/miata can take flat but the vette can't :D

My Vote is:

5 or 6 cone slalom
Sweeper Slalom
Offset Gates

My votes are for
6 cone slalom with ~22 paces in between so I can go flat in the BMW :)
Chicago box
Offset gates

I like to see some "lane change" type of elements on occasion. Sweepers (not too long) that feed nicely into slaloms (or Chicago boxes) are always kinda fun for me as well.

BUMP. Just to clarify, you are only expected to help me setup course and grid. Test N Tune and Kid Karts have their own setup crew.

BUMP

Need a setup crew. No course, No race weekend!

If you've setup with me before you know I don't request too much work from you, just a time commitment. Please contact me if you are interested!

We are clear to setup after 3:30. Realistically on a Friday PM coming from LA, I think i'd be on site around 430-5PM. I can be contacted here 760-716-2nine2seven
