Who's Doing What In 2009
It's that time of the year where some of us are trying to decide what we're going to be driving next year, and what class we might run in.
It's nice to know who else might be running, in what classes ...

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
Since Tim Albin is thinking about running CSP locally, Karen and I might go there also. It would be a nice local class with Casey B., Ken L., Jayson W. and Bob B.
... or, we might sell some cars and buy a new '09 WRX and run SK2 locally and DS at National events. But do we really want to go back to a stock class AWD after driving Karen's CS Miata on R's (running SK2 for most of our events). The new WRX is good enough for Annie B on the other hand!
... or, we might take a break from AX.

I am planning on giving and receiving as much s**t as possible for '09
So in other words, no change.

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
Seriously, it looks like 99% sure we WON'T be moving back East - yea!
So I'll stay in CSP and try one more time to win Nationals. I hope to be able to afford proper engine management to control my VVT intake cam; change brakes thanks to the new SP allowances, run a new top secret intake manifold, and a whole bunch of odds and ends.

Bill ... Glad to hear that you'll probably get to stay in the area. Happy to know that you'll run PAX and not CSP!

I'm sticking with my Miata in SK2 CS, but I'm keeping my options open for the ProSolo and National Tour when they come around.

I'm committed to driving either a STS2 Miata, a STU STI, a DS 09 WRX, an AS STI or a SS Z06. Hopefully things will clarify themselves in a few weeks!

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
You'll want to stay in PAX for the competition ... us mortals in our underprepped CSP cars won't give it to you.
"Drive For Five" .... yawn, but it is amazing how you keep pulling out those wins Jason, by the narrowest of margins. I know Bryan H. is gunning for you next year!
Leonard ... we'd like to join you in SK2, but the ST tire choice is really bad for our Miata's, as you know, plus an ever worsening CS Index. yeah Jason ... I'm still whining

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
Um, although Brian P.'s car is certainly not under prepared, he didn't exactly win w/an all-titanium car or something - he out drove everyone. The point being, good/great driving wins, not cars. I develop my car has much as possible because, a.) I love tinkering with it - it's like a 1/1 scale version of the 1/64th & 1/24th scale slot cars I used to race as a 14 yr. old, and b.) I'm always trying to engineer the driver out of the equation as much as possible.Mako Koiwai wrote:... us mortals in our underprepped CSP cars won't give it to you.

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
Martin Coghill does pretty well on the 15" Dunlops down in San Diego in a 99 Miata - he was running mid-pack on the Azenis until he switched and now runs near the top of the standings almost every event down there. I just got a set of 16" Dunlops last week and get to try them out this Sunday in San Diego. Yes, the competition is pretty stiff in SK2, but we've got a pretty big crowd in both regions and it's always fun - besides, I need another Miata in SK2 to compare to!Mako Koiwai wrote: Leonard ... we'd like to join you in SK2, but the ST tire choice is really bad for our Miata's, as you know, plus an ever worsening CS Index. yeah Jason ... Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
Bill ... someone is going to buy and run Brian's new CSP car locally ? (not talking National events here)
Leonard ...we'd love to run SK2, with that nice big crowd, but we're stuck with 15" tires ... and with our 6 speed, we'd like a taller tire, which doesn't exist in the top choice's.

Yeah, except that Brian's Miata has more power, more brakes and more tire than some of us.Bill Schenker wrote:Um, although Brian P.'s car is certainly not under prepared, he didn't exactly win w/an all-titanium car or something - he out drove everyone. Got the surgery approval... But its a slow process. And 6 weeks afterwards in a sling... Then a year or more of therapy...
I'd say AX on indefinite hold.....
