1A??? Are you serious? Has anybody thought this through? The lawyers in Stacey's firm all go up to SF or Oakland or San Jose or Sacramento atleast monthly on cases. They are jumping up and down for their high speed train. Its a joke. We'll blow through $10billion on vaporplans. Maybe a virtual railroad internet game! Its never getting built. But lets say it did... How many trains? To how many places? Going how often? These lawyers schedule a flight, but if they are early or delayed they hope on a different flight. They are leaving every 10 minutes from multiple airports. If you get a train it will be one, then two, then how long til four??? How often does that train leave the station? How many trips a day? Why? We have Southwest. Why do we need $10.9 Billion in "SEED" money for a doomed project. Is it going to be cheaper than Southwest? No. More convenient? No. Going to pad the bank accounts of some special interests? Uhmmm yeah...

Prop 2. Save the Chickens. No, no you won't. Normal production egg farming is over in California. We'll have a few gourmet free range farms for the West side freaks. They don't make a blimp on the Economic radar. California farmers will go out of business. The chickens will mostly be destroyed. We will import eggs from states and countries that raise their hens the way we used to. So, we voted to raise our prices, decrease our control on standards and health, and put California's out of jobs. Why? So, we can close our eyes and pretend we're good people.

Prop 3, oh yeah bring on the crippled children... Gesh....

And LA County measures....

Measure R.... 1/2 point increase to sales tax for 30 years. Bend over... FOR WHAT????
Measure U.... Oh yeah screw just the unincorporated types... Lawsuit city.
On both of these.... We're in an economic downturn. We face higher federal taxes, the state is broke and wants to increase taxes, and we all collectively shout thank you sir may I have another and another and another???
In Pasadena, we have the worst public schools in the state. And we have an incompetent and corrupt school board. With no plan and no direction they came hat in hand for a massive bond measure... 75 to 25 yes vote... Oh sure, you want to screw me to, why not....

I believe the majority of voters think "someone else" will pay for those benefits. I also think most people don't understand that bonds are debt that has to be paid back, and that they don't have a clue about the reality of California's financial obligations in relation to state priorities.

Sad. I'm thinking the income tax in Nevada / Arizona / New Mexico is nice this time of year / decade / century.

2: Well, it just got harder to do business in CA, that's nothing new, I'm all right with the farmers having to re-tool.
There is a small(ish) commercial egg farm that I pass on a regular basis at lunch, they have been doing well since they opened in the early 90s, it'll be interesting to see how they fare now.

They are gone Seb. Its a unilateral measure. Eggs will simply be raised outside our borders and trucked in. Its a low margin business with plenty of competition. Its over for them.

It looks like Sacramento is looking for a pilot program. I think the Train would have the best chance at working Corona or Anaheim to Vegas build with half casino's money. Vegas get 40million visitors/year, probably >50% of the from south on the I15. $50/round trip ticket for 1:15 trip seems like it could sustain. And based on the given numbers (faulty or not) probably cost California 3Billion instead of 10. Heck you could probably sellout whole cars to a bachlor(ette) party and make a high profit luxury booze ride out of it.

Yes it is a no brainer Mako. The cost to build, maintain and operate something like that is astronomical. If it were viable, private industry would have already done it.. Unless it were heavily subsidized by taxpayers, the fares would be so expensive that no one would ride the damn thing. Hell, even with subsidies it would still be more expensive than flying. If government would get out of the way, flying would be cheaper still. This is the problem with most government endeavors. Governments rarely do things that make economic sense and we the taxpayers are left holding the bag.

Airlines claim that when the feds took over the security checks, that added $5-10 to each ticket. I'm sure you're aware that that has been a dismal failure.

Yeah, $10 to have someone check an ID or tell me that my single item with less than 3 oz. of liquid has to be tossed because it's not in a plastic bag. The laptop and shoes deal is a huge PITA also.

Next time your bag gets lost, be prepared to deal with unmanned kiosks at the airport and customer service operators several time zones a way. Lucky for me, the last time I dealt with that United still had humans dealing with it. Never checking a bag for a business trip again unless it's absolutely necessary.
