Re: SD Divisional Run/Work Groups

Anyone know the scoop on the Fri test n tune? Do you have to be there at 9:00am or can you arrive mid-day? I would love to get a few runs in before Sat, as I've never driven in SD before, but I don't see a way to get there from Pasadena by 9:00.

Re: Help! Miata Brake Problem ...

From the sequence of pictures in Haynes manual, it looks like you put the pads in place, fit the springs into little holes in the edge of the pad backing plate and then swing the caliper down into place. No idea if that applies to Karen's car.

I got my check about a month ago, so I've had the tires for a while. I am very happy with them.

Re: Are there any Los Angeles area events?

One more thought regarding practices: You can just show up at a practice without signing up. You won't be able to *drive* but you can sign the event waivers and get ride-alongs to your heart's content. Pretty much anyone you ask will give you a ride. We even have "loaner" helmets you can b...

Re: We're Trailer Trash!

Are you going to go with a bolt-in pole or one of the "portable" ones that clamps in place? I'd recommend a bolt-in pole custom made to the size you need. We have a clamp-in pole on loan }:) and it seems like it needs a fairly stiff floor and ceiling to be able to take full side loads. htt...

Be aware that I ended up sending 2 checks for the practice. One of them should hopefully end up shredded.

Re: No$ Championship Preregistration

I always jump at the chance to have someone fast drive my car. The fast guys (and gals...) have been doing this for a long time and can often give you very good information about setup issues with your car and suggest how to fix them. When someone like Reijo says: "your car feels really loose i...

Re: Site opinions

The thing I keep wanting is button that takes me direct to "new posts" page. Seems like it would be good to have this show up on every page. I drill down and read some topic and then have to use the "back" button to pop back up to where the "new posts" link is.

Re: Went to my first event and it was great

IMO, you're more likely to screw up the brake boosting and actually slow down then you are to actually improve your time. Being out of the boost sucks, i know, but the best solution i think is to drive the best line you can to keep your mid corner speeds up and allow early throttle application(ie, ...

She's taking the car to Art Rinner. She's apparently setting it up as some kind of track-day M3 killer. Thanks for the advice gang.

Re: Went to my first event and it was great

A trick you can use to overcome turbo-lag is to learn to left-foot brake. That allows you to get back on the gas and start spooling up the turbo before you release the brakes. On my 1.8t VW (auto!) you can only overlap for about a second before the ECU chops the throttle, but combined with braking e...

Suspension shop advice for Ford Focus?

A co-worker wants to get some performance suspension work done on her Ford Focus. Somewhere near Pasadena would probably be groovy. It is a Ford Focus 2005, need to install Racing camber plates set to -2.5 and I need a rear sway bar installed. I need my alighment set to 1/16 toe in the front and 0 t...
