Re: SAD, SAD NEWS

Renee was an incredibly wonderful person as many others have pointed out. I remember being a nervous novice my first time to grid at ACS. She definitely made her command presence known immediately, but I sensed from that first moment that she was there to protect and serve. That she did quite effect...

Re: Interesting Result Losing Muffler

It is time for you guys, Karen and Mako, to go racing already. Some of the best learning will come when you are chasing another similar car around the track. When you are forced to keep up, it is amazing how much more speed you will find. I remember my first race at WSIR chasing around the venerable...

What do you think we should change on the car Mako?

That is a pretty common outcome... 2 seconds might be a bit high, but I almost always go slower in the race.

Re: Interesting Result Losing Muffler

PSS. Did you know that their are new Hoosier A7s and R7s due later this year. All new compounds that are much more resilient like the compounds on slicks. Better heat cycling and better wear. New lighter tire construction, too, I am told. The tread wear rating, i.e. Tread wear rating 40 is going to ...

PS. Get A6s and burn them down to cord and they are still faster than R6s. Did I mention I hate R6s?

Re: Interesting Result Losing Muffler

I hate the Hoosier R6. If the Goodyears are anything like the R6 there first session is OK and it is all downhill from there. By the third session they are dead in my opinion. You can easily lose 1.5 seconds from the first morning session to the third or fourth afternoon session just in the R6 let a...

Re: Interesting Result Losing Muffler

I can only speculate on what HP and torque variances there are for your car with and without the muffler so I won't comment on that. It is not unocommon though as the day warms up to lose 1 to 1.5 seconds from a 10 am-ish qualifying time to a 3 pm race. Of course the race is always a bit different. ...

Re: So who is planning on doing this?

Mako, I agree with Jason. Do it.

I will be out there Friday to help you crew, answer any of your questions, etc.

I will probably be out Thursday evening for the orientation meeting, too. The Chief Steward keeps sending me back. I wonder why...?

Re: So who is planning on doing this?

I'm thinking about it -- it's my birthday that Sunday! Where is a good place to stay in the area? The best place to stay closest to the track is the Red Roof Inn (now Motel 6) or the Super 8. please note I said the "best" place and not "good." Those are the places I stay as they...

Re: Cal Club SuperSchool for race licensing is in March at BRP

You will get a ton of track time; about seven hours over two days of driving. Hey Oli: Not sure these guys over here can handle more that 2 or 3 minutes of driving with out having to go chase some cones  But who knows.... Don't be jealous that our car control skills are far superior to roa...

Re: Cal Club SuperSchool for race licensing is in March at BRP

If you need a race/school ready car, you can rent one of the Spec Miatas from 7 Only at Buttonwillow. If you want to run something faster they also have the GT2 race cars. Yes. You need that stuff for the lincensing school. There are other days just for time trials, lapping or performance driving clinics where that stuff is not needed.

Re: Cal Club SuperSchool for race licensing is in March at BRP

I can fix that. I will put a bunch of cones in the paddock. The road racing guys won't be able to get around them without hitting them. The AX guys can get their fix during the day putting them all back upright. It will be a full-time job for them. I hope they will be able to find time to get out on...
