Re: 2010 El Toro Pro Solo (Reg is open)

Re: Online registration can SK class Novice?

SK is an indexed class. You cannot apply a 2nd index to it (Novice) Either run Sk2, or CS NOV. BTW, congrats on the 2-2 draw on Saturday in the FA Cup. But the Supplemental Regulations state: C) Novice class competitor’s cars must be classed in classes that are outlined in the SCCA Solo National ru...

Re: Online registration can SK class Novice?

This was brought up multiple times last year, and despite the fact that the supplemental rules state that local classes can run in Novice, it was never fixed. As a result, the ST* class cars which already have the fact that they are running on street tires "built into" their index values w...

Re: Low Entries for Solo School-Because?

With respect to the cost compared to the respected national school and 2 days worth of our regular practices - I agree that it's probably reasonable. However, with respect to the working - we provided workers for the Motorsports Z event and the FSAE event. It would seem to me that we could make an e...

Re: SCNAX CUP is BACK!

Missed that this was about the Oct 24th event because there is no date in the thread title... Have to say that I'm kind of bummed... My family (mom and 3 younger sisters) is coming out from VT for the weekend and I was planning to give them rides at the Saturday practice...

Re: Pls advice - got pulled over and now need to go to a referee

"I do not consent to any search of my vehicle." "Am I under arrest?" / "Am I free to go" That said, your car clearly isn't street legal anymore, and you should probably just accept that rather then trying to get around it. If it looked stock on the exterior you might be...

Steve G's wheel is still wobbling, but not nearly as bad. control arm bushings. The control arm bushings were replaced with VERY stiff polyurethane ones.... any other ideas? :?: :?: :?: :?: I bet we could build a test rig of some kind to apply different forces to your wheel and try and replicate th...

Re: Triad Award list

The guy who got the CS Solo Triad Award credit for Farmington, Robert Godby, came in LAST in CS at the event against no other competition from the RM region. What a load of bullshit! I don't think you're reading the chart right, Andrew. Only the highlighted ones are eligible for the Triad award. He...

Re: Triad Award list

If they are going to do national-level awards like this, then SCCA should enforce some consistency on the rules of the constituent events that make one eligible for the award. If a division wants to go off and have some difference in their rules because they are a bunch of special snowflakes, then t...

Re: Triad Award list

Huh...That's weird. I thought the Farmington tour counted as a divisional, and the Vail tour was the Western States Championship. I wonder what happened? I so did I. Here's SCCA response to my question. Glen, RMDIV set up this event a bit differently in that they restricted RM Championships to only...

Seems like California should have its on fleet of dedicated firefighting aircraft. Out of service commercial airliners are CHEAP right now... How hard is it to convert them? Re: PASADENA FIRE!!!

The DC-10 is staging out of somewhere pretty far away, it took them an hour from one drop to get refilled and refueled and back over here. I've also seen what looks like a DC-7 (4-prop) and a bunch of S-2Ts (2 props). 1 drop by the DC-10 = 12 drops from the S-2Ts. FYI, their operating procedure is t...

Excessive Tire Wear (Dunlop Z1s)

Sooo I go out to my car tonight after work, and what do I see... 4-5 thumbnail sized pieces and 2-3 smaller pieces missing from the outside edge of my front left tire. They aren't really very deep, and there is still depth to the tread left below them. I'm reluctant to call this "chunking"...

Re: Aftermarket Powder Coating and Factory Wheel Warning.....

i've always heard forged are a big no no, but i'm starting to think anything other than steel isn't a good idea For powder coating? It would seem that a forged wheel would be OK to powder coat because it's stronger; but it could be its heat dissipation properties say otherwise. Chrome plating and p...

I'm going to geek out now... If you look in MIL-HDBK5 "Metallic Materials and Elements for Aerospace Vehicle Structures", you can see what heat does to different Aluminum alloys yield strength over time. For example, for common 6061-T6: http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/6596/6061t6.png And ...

Re: How to avoid getting your racecar impounded

No impound, no $1000 Cat ticket, no NOTHING. I have to restore the car to stock soon anyway, so the BAR is no big deal. Had I opened my hood, I would have set in motion a chain of events that would almost certainly led to the impoundment of my vehicle - the CARB stickers are mostly gone from my mod...
