Re: STR: S2000 vrs MX-5 thoughts?
A simple fact: rolled fenders (especially welded sections like the rears on most cars) will flare slightly when rolled. The solution to this would be to mandate a max tire size, a deviation from OEM wheel offset (say +/- 15mm) and no cutting: there's only so much you can do with a lip roller (or bas...

Re: STR: S2000 vrs MX-5 thoughts?
I don't have extensive experience in S2k's however I know they lack area under the curve when it comes to power on most solo courses. I'd personally go with the 6spd NC (seem to be in the minority) as I'd expect it to maintain an average acceleration advantage over the S2k. I'm curious how the S2k ...

Re: STR: S2000 vrs MX-5 thoughts?
What ruleset would most benefit my (Shauna's) 99 10AE Miata  , and could it be competitive? CSP... Yes... Only if you want it to end up looking like Bill's car... If someone made a 245/40-15 tire I think the NB would be a possibility for STR: it's a few inches narrower and 250 pounds lighter t...

ABSOLUTELY!!! Finding half-size wheels is a pain in the a$$.Sebastian Rios wrote:...The one thing I do feel strongly about is wheels...9" width should be allowed screw those .5 sizes, there are a million *x9" wheels out there.

Brian, I run a 6-speed NC: I find myself using 3rd gear a lot, so you've got to be comfortable with a lot of shifting.

(I just posted a nice, detailed response, and the web hamsters ate it.) Ken: yes, there are two cats, but only the front one is monitored. There are no good headers as they are all too short in order to mate with the stock midpipe. I still run the stock front cat and am able to make good powe...

Re: STR: S2000 vrs MX-5 thoughts?
I like Jason's take on it, we don't need another new set of rules. Can the MX-5 fit 265 tires? Yes, if allowed an aggressive fender roll: 245's fit in stock fenders, or with a light roll in back if you're running anything below a +40 offset rim. What does a race-ready S2K weigh? I find a published ...

Re: 2009 Lone Pine Time Trials
This thread is not resolving my issues - does anybody know what is going to be required / enforced this year at Lone Pine??? It is a moot point for me, as I am out of the car for several months due to breaking my kneecap coming off my mountain bike last week. My son Bret was still planning on runni...

Re: Questions about updating/backdating (SSM) Mazda Miata ladder
It's not just a bolt-on: your car doesn't have the nut plates in the body to allow attachment of the NB brace, so you would have to weld plates or drill for Nutserts.Christos Adam wrote:...and then maybe just bolt on the '03 sport ladder brace...

Re: Braille Battery Install with Pics
Henry's brand new Odyssey battery blew up on Sunday at the Porsche AX ?! Left the car dead on course during his 2nd timed run. Case/top is bulged out. Is the angle of that shot, or did the positive terminal get over against the hold-down bracket? A short like that would sure blow one up. Is the bat...

I think they might have forgotten to remove the NOV panel when Sonny ran. His video's are posted ... on the video thread for the event. Sonny's gone from road racing to AX to Drifting and now he's back AX'ing. If he ran with the wrong class or numbers on his car, aren't all his runs DSQ? I saw that...

What year is your MR-2? Different generations of MR-2's and Miatas use either 4 or 5-lug wheels, so it would help folks to know exactly what you're looking for.

What times were you getting in the ///M? Best time on Saturday was a 74.6 something ... Best on Sunday was a 77.8 something... :/ Wasn't quite where I wanted to be, but I gotta remember it was my first time out there. I wasn't really too confident in my tires... had my pressures dialed, but more gr...

[ Too bad the dimensions have to be the same: ] No they don't! They just can't be smaller. Oh, yeah. But the part about the size requirement as it relates to routing an intake is the key issue. Bigger? Might as well be the same. :P I saw they shot that down right away before anyone could buld one w...
