TIRE RACK LINK

If you haven't yet noticed, we now have a TIRE RACK link on the site (and coming soon to the main site too).

CSCC Solo will now receive a 6% rebate on the funds you spend at TIRE RACK every time you use the link, and make a purchase. Please help support our program without a single extra dollar out of your pocket.

Note:
Currently the link is at the bottom of this site, hopefully it can be moved to a more prominent location in the future.

Good job getting this set up guys. Be nice if the link opened in a new window/tab instead of switching to it though.

I know, I know. But I like things to be efficient. Why click twice when I could only click once? :)

click with the scroll-wheel (or middle) button - loads in a background tab or window (depending on your settings) for firefox & is one button ;) - not sure about IE.

I'm so much more efficient on fs forums & deal threads because of this... :-D

and even cooler, for those who don't already know, you can use the same middle/scroll wheel button on a firefox tab to close it - this way you don't even have to be on the 50x50 pixel "X" or whatever size it is.

Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't find this link anywhere. Where exactly is it?

It's the ad for tire rack at the bottom of the page, if you have any kind of ad blocker on it wouldn't show up.

I bought my Dunlops... anyone else supporting us yet via the link?

I'm most likely going to buy a set of Dunlops before the $50 rebate thing ends.

Should they be on the 'Advertising Sponsors' section of the main page?

It's not setup yet to be a rotating ad but you reminded me to add it also to the "Advertising Sponsors" page. I made sure to copy the link that you click on, and not the link that it eventually takes you to. The first one is the one that gives us the commission.

The Tire Rack ad is not really compatible with the ad rotator on the main page but the vast majority of our web page views are in the forums.

Tire Rack isn't exactly an advertising sponsor. They support national solo, which indirectly we benifit. But I'm not sure they should be on the same level as the guys who give us money to be in the rotating banner at the top. Did we check with the committe on that?

That is one of the main reasons I have it at the bottom not the top. That and it moves everything down when it's at the top and think of all the cumulative scrolling that would cause.

Not true!

We receive a 6% return (no secret it's in b/w on T/R's site) on every purchase via the link. Three or four R compound purchases per year and were equal to what the "sponsors" pay (each).

I kinda assume this group has more than 3-4 cars a year with new tires on all 4 corners. If our small group who buy 3-4 sets per year were to all purchase via the link, it would potentially equal annually what we bring in in an e-board weekend. Add to it those like myself who stretch out a year on a set, add street rubber for daily drivers.... this could be our largest single source of income. But it's all dependent on people using the link.

So your right, probably not on the same level, but potentially many times their level.

AND Definitely not deserving of top of page billing!

I think how much revenue is generated is one separate thing.. as is the fact that the local businesses choose to put their money supporting the region/sport.

Frankly, Tire Rack does it because it makes business sense to have an affiliate program. I doubt any of the other businesses here really do it because it financially pencils out. I can speak for my business.. we do not. I doubt I would sell enough extra to autocrossers to cover the annual costs.

I have been running a tire rack banner on the San Diego forum for something like 10 years now. People do use Tire Rack, but they have to remember to use the link and click it. Most people do not. Threads like this will remind people though. :)

Randy, don't disagree.

What was originally requested was to put the TR banner next to the local business ones, and move the stuff where the "search" stuff is now, below, and across like where the Solo2 and calender link is.

While I wouldn't advocate reducing the size of the "sponsors " banners, the TR and CSCC both could. Additionally TR has multiple sizes and shapes of banners available in addition to the one below.

But... were not the operator / designer of the site (aka volunteer's time) who has final say.
