Hey Eric,
is this roval or infield only? Looking forward to more TNiA events especially at Streets of Willow and Buttonwillow.

Would I need to borrow a hard top for my 1999 Miata 10AE?
It's bone stock.

I tried to sign up for TNiA last year but was told that I needed a roll bar for my car. Not sure if a hardtop alone will do it.Pete Loney wrote:Would I need to borrow a hard top for my 1999 Miata 10AE?

What's involved in driver coaching? Are autocross instructors eligible, or are specific qualifications needed?

Awesome! Hopefully Buttonwillow falls on my birthday again!
Either way, I'm sure we can bring an even larger group of Solo guys out like we did last year. These events were a ton of fun and a great way to get some first time track experience.

Mega fun in a car! I haven't driven any local events, but have done several in North and South Carolina, including Charlotte Motor Speedway roval which uses 90% of the oval! Driven a number of road courses, but that was the first time on an oval, incredible experience. Do it!

I've always wondered what Federal mandate came into effect that made 2006 the magic year for this SCCA rule.Sean Fenstermacher wrote:-The Vehicle is a 2006-year model or newer
- There were new Federal rollover rules that were passed in 2009, that phased in STARTING in 2012 (Roof structured needed to support 3.5 times their weight vs the prior rule of 1.5 times in a simulated rollover... but convertibles were excluded from this requirement. (This is the cause of the much larger D pillars in SUV's) in addition to side impact crash tests necessitating the door panels becoming taller, and windows shorter.

Re: TNiA
Factory hardtops look like a hardtop to me but early Miatas and Spyders still need roll bars
Driver coach, for intermediate & advance group just does a quick in grid driver meeting, getting everyone up to speed on how we get along on the track. Then hangs in pit lane to talk to drivers who find black flag.
Novice coach is more involved, driver meeting/chalk talk, debrief group after sessions, pit lane Black flag talk.
I don’t know the 2006 reason, I just play along...

Re: TNiA
They want to host a school in conjunction with tnia. They have asked for 4 helpers and 1 person who can work the timing addition to the trailer and cones. Helpers needed in the am and pm, timing just needed in the afternoon. Free afternoon runs for volunteers.

Re: TNiA
Looks like we have 3 volunteers so far. Do we have one more volunteer? With Rick stepping up, I'm assuming that the timing equipment will be available.

Re: TNiA
I was actually volunteering to help with TNiA, not the autocross, but I'll go where I'm needed most. Don't want to leave Eric in a bind though.Stephen Yeoh wrote:Looks like we have 3 volunteers so far. Do we have one more volunteer? Re: TNiA
National staff was fighting over me at the convention over Starting Line vs TNiA. I totally want your help with TNiA, especially since you’ve done a couple. TNiA doesn’t start until later in the day, this may be a great opportunity for someone new to learn the timing stuff in the morning and then you can swap over to TNiA.Rick Brown wrote: I was actually volunteering to help with TNiA, not the autocross, but I'll go where I'm needed most.
