Our illustration shows what the MX-2 is likely to look like.
The images are somebody's fantasy.

It's a Z3? It's a S2K? It's the new Miata?

This only makes sense if they have some idea of how big the ND MX-5 is going to be. If the ND is actually intended to be more true to the original Miata then the NC is, with a closer to 2200lb curb weight and slightly smaller exterior proportions, how big could an MX-2 really be??? Folks tossing around that 1000 kg / 2200 lb number must be forgetting that that is where the Miata started out.

This would make a ton of sense if the ND MX-5 were to come with a rotary engine...

The Miata will never be a rotary car if they stay true to its philosophy. Unlikely that the ND will be anywhere near 2,200 pounds as a production model.

Well hopefully it will be a Mazda product and not have FORD involvement, ie. "you must use RX8 bits."

The US Suby STI's get american lard ass wide seats instead of the nice tight JDM seats. Why not let the few wide body passengers get aftermarket seats instead of making everyone else either suffer through unsupportive seats or aftermarket seats ... not allowed in Stock. Of course Chevrolet did the same thing to Z06 buyers. I was trying out one of the GRA members older Vette's. It had really cool proper bucket seats with LOCKING seat belts!
