Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
Here is the list of those who are in the July 25th practice at El Toro.
If you didn't make it into the practice, I am very sorry but the unprecedented demand for this event meant that over 50 applications did not make it in and your checks will be shredded.
To those who did make it in I look forward to seeing you at the event!

Thanks ... if we share a list number, does that mean we're sharing an entry?

That is correct, if it's on the same line you are sharing an entry.

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
Julio, on this particular practice the number of members, guests, FSAE, Coreworker, and Nationals entrants was so high, I'd be surprised if many or any entrants outside those cats got in. 150-160 entries for 100 spots I think I heard.

Did all of the volunteers get in? Tin was a tech judge and he's not on the list.

Nope, a certain number of spots were set aside. CASOC was just trying to be nice and let some of the volunteers into our practice.Rachel Nichols wrote:Did all of the volunteers get in? Tin was a tech judge and he's not on the list.
Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
I didn't attempt to be on the "volunteer list". My tech job was pretty easy compared to others running for cones all dayRachel Nichols wrote:Did all of the volunteers get in? Tin was a tech judge and he's not on the list.

No problem though, I'll just be at K1 all day.

Hey Adrian,
I sent my check in the day it was posted and I'm not on the practice list, just wondering what's up ?
Thanks,

Priority for getting into this practice went something like this:Brett King wrote:Hey Adrian,
I sent my check in the day it was posted and I'm not on the practice list, just wondering what's up ?
Thanks,
Brett
CASOC members
Guests of CASOC members
People going to nationals (hence the name "CASOC Summer Picnic - BBQ - Test n Tune")
FSAE volunteers
points card holders
Considering we got enough entries to fill over 1 1/2 practices, I would say that we barely broke the surface of the fifth category. Don't be too discouraged though, the difficulty in getting into practices seems to diminish between Nationals in September and January when the new season begins.

Yes Brett, Christine is correct.
With this event being so close to the National Championship it was impossible for many points card holders to get in.

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
Brett, I would suggest you take issue with your club PSCC voting to have a 3rd championship (without a practice) in 6 weeks instead of splitting our two championship weekends with a practice event. That has made getting into this practice and I assume the August practice as hard as any in the last decade.

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
That is pure speculation. The decision to make the August another championship was done well after this practice was full.Steve Ekstrand wrote:Brett, I would suggest you take issue with your club PSCC voting to have a 3rd championship (without a practice) in 6 weeks instead of splitting our two championship weekends with a practice event. Doesn't make the situation any better. But it is what it is, i won't be in town for that other event either way ;) . Anyway, this practice should be good.Art Rinner wrote:That is pure speculation. Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
All points noted... however, I think there is a little favoritism going on here. If I'm signed up for the Championship on Sunday, and I send in my check THE DAY that the event is posted, I should be getting into the practice. There's no way that my check wasn't in the first 10-20 received asides from whoever was to be in from the CASOC / FSAE. Maybe I'm being too practical, but it's pretty lame that just because someone else is going to nationals, I'm getting the bump.
I just dropped a GRIP of cash on my car doing mods to make it more competitive in my class. I was just about to buy a new set of rubber for it this week in addition to all that. So basically all the money that I've spent, and work I've done to my car is a bit of a waste ( at this point in time anyway ) because of people that have been around longer have precedence because they're going to nationals or are in the "clik" ??? Not really a good way to attract new members...
It honestly really makes me second guess about getting more serious about AX, and think more about just going to track days. If I can't even drive / test my car before a Championship, what's the point of me racing in it ? How can I even be remotely competitive in class without testing / putting in laps, if other people in my class are afforded that opportunity and I'm not ? Just doesn't make sense...
I would think that this region would try to get a little creative, and come up with more ideas and ways to accommodate a growth, not turn people away that are trying to get into AX and grow the region and the sport.
I'm not pissed, just confused on the logic.

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
This event/practice was promoted on other Region's board as a Test and Tune for Nationals. The August practice has been always this year geared as a Test and Tune for Nationals also so it will be tight to get in there too. I don't know if it will be promoted to other Regions also. All you can eat hamburgers and autox...hmmmmm

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
Brett, I understand your frustration, but please do understand also that your money spent on the car is not a waste. You will have the events for the rest of the year and also for the years to come. You also have access to track days if so interests you. Not a waste in my opinion.Brett King wrote:I just dropped a GRIP of cash on my car doing mods to make it more competitive in my class. You just happened to not be able to get in to a practice during the BUSIEST time of the season (ie. Nationals). As Christine pointed out, the practice is called "Nationals test and tune". It was not like CASOC did not inform the public about the "intent" or the 'purpose" (for lack of a better term) of their practice. Every club is allowed to put on a practice in whatever format they decide.
We cannot cater to every individual need, and it so happens that this time your needs were not met. There is always next time. No need to be so critical, especially when so many people have put in so much effort to make this event happen.

You could ask the question the other way, should the folks who come out and volunteer, go above and beyond and put in a bunch of extra time not pretty much automatically get into Practices?
We have people coming from other states to get into this practice it's so in demand. I'd agree with steve that it's probably the hardest practice to get into in years, though I can pretty much say there will once again be multiple practices later in the year that we'll have to advertise the crap out of to get full.
We're letting 100 people in when I've never seen us let more than 80 in before.
Speak with your club about running another practice and volunteer for one of the chief positions. Biggest problem we seem to run into these days is the core people who volunteer every time are just tired. CASOC happens to have gotten an influx of super motivated awesome new members recently, which has helped us step up to run several events this year.
Just want you to know that we've all been on your end of this before, we remember. We do have 3 events in the next couple months so there will be lots of practice to be had, even if it's x-runs at the championships.

Re: Entry List for 25th July El Toro Practice (CASOC)
We expanded the practice to a 100 people! How often is that done. AND we accommodated FSAE volunteers.
Like I said... We need more practices, your club voted AGAINST IT!!!
X runs are your friend. I get more out of 6 concentrated competition style runs than a flurry of 12 practice runs.
