One use to have to take this 8 hour test in person. It's now available on-line for a small fee, $15.95 as a member . Completing it results in a certificate that you can use to reduce your auto insurance for three years. I don't know if it's valid for insurance companies besides AAA. Handing in the completion certificate at an AAA outlet will result in an approximate 1.9% discount on your auto insurance. After three years, one can take a 4 hour refresher test to extend the discount.

I would imagine one can fairly zip through it ... otherwise ... the savings might hardly be worth it! Aren't the on-line ticket classes suppose to take 8 hours ?
