Read somewhere that a study showed that traffic circles are actually more efficient than signal controlled intersections, reduce traffic congestion and have fewer accidents. Shouldn't take more than a couple of generations for the average American driver to learn how to do it correctly........

Hasn't worked for drivers in the PCH/Lakewood/Los Coyotes Diagonal circle.

The Circle encompasses what is probably the least visited park in Long Beach.

I've seen euro's drive traffic circles....

They haven't figured it out either, its one big game of chicken played by braille. Fewer damage claims or injuries maybe.... You aren't going fast enough.

It's all about timing and pointing toward the longest lasting space. Lane lines are meaningless. Worst part about the LB traffic circle is that few understand that those in the circle have right-of-way. :mrt:

They recently put one in by my local doctor, bank, and post office, and I can see how people now slow way down when going through that intersection.
When there are no cars or pedestrians around, then it is an exercise in precision driving, and if my son is riding we take it for a couple of rounds... }:) if my wife is riding I get a dirty look if I take it even slightly briskly...

Worst part about the LB traffic circle is that few understand that those in the circle have right-of-way. :mrt:

I'd say at least half of the moes out there don't understand it when there's a big sign that says "YIELD." There's no way they'd be able to grasp the in-the-circle concept on a roundabout before getting that far-off stare and starting to drool at the corners of their mouths.
