Jan 11th- New member
Hey guys,
Wanted to introduce myself in here. I'm new to autoX, i've ran in one event in San Diego and once at Button Willow. I've had a lot of classroom instruction and do understand what im doing, just need to learn how to apply it. When I ran at Button I got a lot of seat time and was improving more and more as the day went on. However when I ran at Qualcomm's MX5 event I felt like I was squeezed in the track. Are the miata events a narrower course? So if you see me out there, i'd love your input.
I was in the service, which limited my ability to get out to the track. Fortunately it gave me time to build the car up some. The car is an 07 Mustang 4.0 with legal bolt-ons, upgraded rear end and driveshaft. Stock tires and suspension. I do own a helmet, Snell 2000 approved.
Hope to see you out there for Jan 11th's practice.
J

Not familiar with Miata of San Diego hosting events.
If your talking about the "Miata Club day with SCAT" (one of the San Diego region SCCA host teams) earlier this year a special event was put on for non autocross type members of the SD Miata Club. This event was to familiarize and assist them to feel more secure with their cars and handling capabilities, vs. a typical autocross event.

Sweet. Glad to see some mustang fans attending. I made the practice list so i'll be there early if the drive goes well.
Even with 2 less cyl this pony will be looking at any stock pre 05 GT from the rear view
Don't under estimate the 4.0. It's driver however can barley make it through the course, hopefully I'll get it down by the end of the day.
See you there!

I'll bet that your stock 4.0 has more HP than my stock 5.0

Justin ... what is critical is that you let the more experienced drivers help you. Make sure you take the Novice Course Walk in the morning. Make sure you arrive early enough to register, empty your car, get through Tech and have time for at least two course walks. You can't be fast if you don't know the course. Whenever you're not running or working you should be getting rides with others. Giving rides is an accepted part of practices. And make sure you let an experienced driver drive your car to show you what the car is capable of. That will give you confidence in the car. The driver can also give you feedback on your cars set-up. Don't waste time just doing the same thing over and over again. After each run, review the run in your mind. For each run, give yourself ONE thing to work on the next run. Remember, you can't be fast if you don't use your brakes well!
