Yes, in fact i was looking at that data yesterday.Max Hayter wrote:STX didn't exactly suck in the talent pool either (Isley and Bauer, neither of whom won!).Lily Liu wrote: I think you may be looking too much into rules and chassis improvement formulas and forgetting about the pool of EXTREMELY TALENTED drivers in ST at the last Nationals. That doesn't necessarily mean that their ST cars are faster than STX cars.
That being said, could one argue that the courses at Nationals this year favored lighter, more agile cars?

Re: ST Civics in STX
Wait, what about the other nationally prepped cars (KJ's RX8 and Tom's E36)? What if Pro Solo Champion Mihai were running in his full prep suby? Would they cause an exodus from the well subscribed class?
The guys in STX should step up to the challenge, it will be easy to see exactly where you stack up, and the competition will make you a better driver.

It's about the dominance of Spec89Civic in Street Touring and why they don't run STX and STU at nationals since they can probably win those classes.

Re: ST Civics in STX
I have to admit it's pretty frustrating trying to compete with the older civics. I don't mind getting beat by the girls anymore than I mind getting beat by the guys. I just would like to feel that those of us who don't have the older civic could be in a class where they can be somewhat competitive and maybe trophy occasionally. A bunch of us ST drivers had switched to STX hoping to have a better chance at winning, or at least finishing higher up. I know that here in socal we have a number of highly skilled drivers (both male and female) and the competition is tough, but I feel like I'm bringing a knife to a gunfight. I hope I don't sound like sourgrapes, because I really do like and respect the civic drivers (both male and female) and I know that they're very talented and they've all helped me out a lot. It's just frustrating to feel like you've turned a fast lap and your still 3-4 seconds off the civics pace. I hope I haven't offended anyone, cuz I'm definitely trying not to. I try to remind myself that this is supposed to be fun.

Re: ST Civics in STX
I think im with david here....are the girls that are driving have ST cars that have single drivers in STopen...is there a reason they dont run codriven/twodrivers in STopen vs moving to STX where we have chased the ST cars away to? Just a question...David Crozier wrote:I have to admit it's pretty frustrating trying to compete with the older civics. I remember someone at nationals encouraging the ladies from STL to run ST after they win STL so that they could go even faster instead of just fast enough to win "anonymous ST national winning ST driver National 2008"

This is the part of your initial post that bothers me. Why should they run STL or STXL?Michael Smith wrote:
I think a few ladies ran STX last event and some are running this event.
Isn't there an STL or STXL to be run in? It seems like it ruins the class regionally.
As if the ladies running ruins the class? Again, what about the other national prepped cars? They don't "ruin" the class because they aren't 20 year old civics or because they are being driven by someone with XY chromosomes?
To Jason: If Shauna and Nicole run open with us, we wouldn't be able to share our cars when needed (like I need to now). Plus at local events since there is not much cool down time between runs, I think it is a disadvantage to run Toyos with a co-driver.

Oh no, I'm not saying what they should do. Just curious. I noticed the reg list and also saw the moved drivers. (Plus they seemed upset during the last event.)Sebastian Rios wrote:This is the part of your initial post that bothers me. Why should they run STL or STXL?Michael Smith wrote:

Personally, I'm looking forward to the competition from Shawna and Nicole, as well as KJ and the rest of the STX folks. Tom, not sure if you're serious about buying Barco's WRX, but it'd be fun to drive against you again too.
Competition makes you better.

The last thing they wanted was to cause a fuss, but I feel like I have to say something in their defense, it was a choice not made lightly and certainly with no ill will to last season's competitors.Michael Smith wrote: I think a few ladies ran STX last event and some are running this event.

Emphasis on the bold: Taken in this context, your post comes across as dismissive or even derogatory; as if they don't belong in the open class, and should stay with "their kind". The next sentence about ruining the class just reinforces that perception. I hope it was just a poor choice of words.

Actually, they're Tom Berry's cool parts. He's fielding a second car (BMW 325i) and I'm co-driving it with a cavalcade of Berrys and FOBs (Friends of Berrys).Tom Denham wrote:If i could afford it i might,When did you decide to move to STX?? Show me your cool parts next event.

EF's run in CSP because when you take the stock cat off that car (or even move it downstream a few inches) the d16a6 four banger produces 380whp.

Michael,
Over time you will discover there are more motivations for people running various cars in various classes at various times than there are people running.
