http://www.calclub.com/ ... at Buttonwillow. Last I heard the Larsson's were participating, and John Kestler just called to let me know that he'll be there on Sunday with his Shannon Sport 2000. We were hoping to make it but work is still keeping us away from track events.
This is the same type of event that Pete, Karen and KJ had such a blast participating in at CA Speedway last year. I believe 3X 20 minute sessions. An excellent intro to Time Trials and Track Days.
Even Karen passed the Ford GT!
If I recall correctly, KJ gained something like 18 mph down the oval straight after taking off his wing. Last weekend ex-AX'er Chris Furia was hitting over 150 mph in his new GT3. Karen's Miata barely gets to 105! At Buttonwillow the fastest the Miata sees is only 90 something:
If you've never been to Buttonwillow ... at least drive up for the day and check it out. A lot of good spectating areas ... and a decent snack bar. Just don't miss the exit! It's a long drive down the 5 until you can turn around!
I had a really great time at the AutoClub TT (should be obvious in the photos above) and was tentatively going to run the Porsche at this event. I've had to decide against that, but will likely still make the trek up on Saturday to spend time with friends and study the cars/classes that are being raced. Guess I should bring my helmet and long-sleeve shirt just in case.

That was pretty early on in the evolution of my camera setup, this year will be better
I ordered new tires (Hankook RS-3s), but I'm considering going there on my current set (Hankook RS-3s) to finish them off since they have a tire center on-site that can mount the fresh set. Do you (anyone) think it's worth it, or should I just put the new ones on now and try and sell the current set? The current set has about 2-4mm of tread, but the outside shoulders are worn down quite a bit due to lack of camber.

Hancooks seem to last longer than you think, even with the outside shoulder worn down. I would run them until they cord, and then switch over.
Great day here today! Lots of familiar faces, a bit of an adjustment to go from my BMW to a Celica in terms of power and grip ;) If anybody is considering getting in to Club Racing or just want to get out on track, I would highly recomend this format.
I ended up using my old tires for both days, they're still mounted. I guess they had way more tread on them than I thought.
I did my fastest lap in the morning session on the second day, despite a few mistakes. I felt much faster and more consistent the third and final session today, but was 1.5 seconds off my morning pace. Perhaps the Hankooks were past their optimal temperature, as it was much cooler in the morning. Or maybe I just drove slower... who knows... I'll have some data to look at tomorrow when I get a chance to process it.
Here's one of my fastest laps. I think it's actually a 2:13.0xx, not a 2:12.663 like the video says. Grabbed the wrong lap when cropping. Oh well, close enough.
I ran a couple of 2:21's on Saturday, didn't run Sunday but Beverlee did. Here's the track records for the configuration we ran (25ACW) http://www.calclub.com/html/html2/archi ... _04_11.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm not sure were the RX8 is classed but SSC and SSB both run 2:13. RS track record is set by another Pro/Celebrity Celica like mine @ 2:17.2

The RX-8 is a T3 car, and Holloway set that record (2:06) in one.
