They are in the motorhome or the boxes full of trophies next to registration.

There were two boxes of them sitting outside of the motor home last weekend.

This past weekend. In a box at the motorhome. At the next event, ask registration or the event master and they can help you find them.

As a follow-up to John's thread, how soon after an event are the trophies available for distribution? Also, why can't we make a mini-ceremony out of making presentations, say at the subsequent event...maybe during the driver's meeting when everyone is still there, during the lunch period...or...?

I realize the schedule is a bit hectic, but if we are about attracting new folks, maybe they would enjoy the whole experience. Just a thought.

Why are you thinking outside the box? The mob will decend on you shortly

This sounds like a great idea to me also, but I envision it more for the noobs than the regulars. What about one of you two organizing a presentation during the lunch hour (presumably most people are on site) or whenever you feel it's appropriate. You can publicize it in the forums and we can make announcements throughout the morning that you will be having a presentation. This is something I personally would like to see become a regular thing at every championship.

As far as when the trophies will be available, send a message to Gayle Jardine who I believe will be able to answer that for you.

I'll bring this up at the committee meeting for approval. Which one of you will be heading it up?

How 'bout the comedy team of "Theo and Ed". I'll be his interpretor, explaining to the throng that "Mon" is "Man" and not half of "Mon-day". I luv you man...er mon.

Seriously, having 2012 awards available would be a good start. And, at the same time, we could attempt to catch up in passing out last years that are still in the box. George, I think you or someone at your level should make the "Gayle" contact and arrange for 2012 awards to be available. Once we know that this will be the case, and presuming the "committee" is supportive, I wouldn't mind being part of an effort. WILL THIS BE MY WORK ASSIGNMENT? (Just kidding) :)

Honestly Ed, I just don't have the time to take on any more of the workload. If you were to see how much I and several others who are the workhorses do for the region, I think you'd be surprised. If you would like to contact Gayle yourself and take this on, I think that would be great.

I can't imagine the committee not being supportive of someone stepping up and taking responsibility for this Ed. I will certainly be going to bat for you.

Trying to round up everyone for a driver's meeting is hard enough. The best time to do something like this would be either before or after the driver's meeting because everyone is supposedly already there. I do agree this is more for noobs, though, especially with a lot of winners taking solo $ instead of trophies.

Another good time to hand out a trophy would be during a run group in which a trophy winner participates. Since there would only be two or three at most, this could be done quickly before cars are sent up in front of the folks he/she spanked. Should take less than a minute or two at most. All Ed would have to do is provide the announcer with a list of those people in that group who are present and have the trophies ready to hand out.

Are we talking about handing out trophies same day as the competition or are we talking about handing out trophies when they arrive? Results still have to be audited before trophies are handed out. Wouldn't handing them out the same day make it difficult to have them personalized like they are now, which is a nice touch, though we do have to wait a month or two or four? Also, what about those who signed up for Solo $? Do we just have certificates on-hand instead? Another thing to keep in mind, If we're talking Novice class, remember that Novice class isn't decided until all Novices have run, which means any trophies handed out to them won't happen until the end of the day. I don't see many Novices staying after they're done running and working, to be honest.

Point taken. I was not discounting the contributions made by you and others. I was only presuming that someone with more authority might serve to have the initial conversation to expedite having awards available. I have no problem contacting Gayle. She's probably reading this anyway.

Sometime in conjunction with the Driver's Meeting, before or after, would insure the best turnout vis-a-vis lunch, although lunch could be Plan B.

Assuming I'm following you correctly, I don't agree with this. It defeats the purpose of a proper, although brief, "awards ceremony". Doing it during a run group only serves the run group.

I wouldn't count on her reading this here. If I were you, I'd send an email through this site. Let her know what you want to do. I'm sure she'll be receptive.
