Re: GPS Bluetooth for android phone external?
I can't say I have first hand knowledge with Android and these devices, but the both work well for me with iOS:
Bad Elf: http://amzn.to/151wFW0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Dual GPS: http://amzn.to/19XZfPC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm partial to the Bad Elf because it allows me to record sessions without having to deal with the phone in the car, then I can upload the data afterwards to my data analysis app: http://www.racetraceapp.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (I'm one of two developers on RaceTrace, iPhone only)

Re: GPS Bluetooth for android phone external?
I'm assuming you will be using something like TrackMasters for Android w/ the external gps option. A lot of the guys on their forums like the Qstarz 818x: http://www.amazon.com/BT-Q818X-Bluetoot ... B001R1OO1W
It can be programmed to either run in 5hz or 10hz (think you have to download software & set it via the pc). I've done gps logging at autox at both 5hz & 10hz (different units, though) and I feel 5hz is plenty accurate. If you have a newer Android phone, you should be fine with either, but older ones have been reported to drop data at 10hz (when I was researching it on the TrackMasters forums).
What I REALLY want, though, is something like the AIM Solo OBDII GPS Data Logger. Just pop it in the car & get everything! Also portable, so I can put it in other people's cars. Sync it up to dashware afterward & I'm set. I mean, it has the word SOLO in it. It was meant to be! http://www.aimsports.com/products/solo/index.html. Now if it only came in orange.

A forthcoming free firmware update to the Solo will add another dimension to the Solo - its namesake motorsport, solo or autocross racing. Right now the details are under wraps with only vague hints as to the autocross specific features, codenamed "killer" and "game changer". Anticpated release date is September-October, 2011"
Wonder what happened, Sep-Oct 2011 came and went.
