No, the MCS was/is mommies car. The 328 and the 135's were/are Sheldon's. At 16, he had a 328 and then a 135 stick with sport package... Now at 17 another frickin' 135. He gets through dad's executive leasing plan. New car every 8,000 miles or so. Sheldon pays for it, and its a screaming deal when you account for insurance and maintenance. He'd have to get a 1978 Mazda GLC with a salvage title to save any money over this plan... Doesn't mean his brothers aren't ready to duct tape him to Palero or Palero's Audi just on principle....
Whoops! My excuse is I read it yesterday.

That kind of deal is only improved on by stealing something every week.

As an SSS, I'm sure you realize that duct taping him to Palero's Audi is safer than duct taping him to Palero. }:)

Total. Nightmare.
Like the Trooper I had. $850 Hitachi carb that couldn't be rebuilt outside of the factory if at all. A Mayan shaman with an Egyptian pyramid builder would be lost in all those passages.

If you guys are going to strap an Ekstrand to my back, I only have 2 requests:
1. make sure the goods are pointed away from me.
2. 2 solo$ for the first minute and 1 solo$ for every minute after

I've got a $100 going into the motorhome, er CTV, upgrade fund if this actually happens. I'm sure we could find a few other people willing to pony up a c-note

It's not water fowl tape.
It's heating and air-conditioning tape.

Although it was originally made for military purposes for waterproofing - WW II - and it's actually not very good at sealing air, so duct tape is not a very good name either...

I've seen it under both names. And I've heard stories of origin that support both. The world will never know the truth.

I should have taped Rad's great talk after today's eBoard Practice on what one has to go through to buy a GT-3 Cup car in the States! Among a long list of things one has to do and buy ($12K fuel cell, Porsche Tools, etc. It comes with rain tires on one of the SETS of wheels one HAS to buy), one of the things is that you basically have to promise that you're going to race it in an approved series, ie. you would not be allowed to auto cross it ... where it could suffer the ultimate humility of being beaten by a Civic!

The GT-3 RS is only available in three colors (Grey !?!?, a "BMW" Blue and I think, White ... with those graphics), so one basically HAS to pay for an expensive Upgraded Color choice ... Rad wants Orange. He's going to end up waiting for over a year before it's delivered ... which is why he apparently "had to" get the Fiat ... readily available ... to have something to drive in the meantime.

Rad has got to be the coolest and least pretentious F430 owner in the World! He's sharing it with at least three other drivers (who could all potentially beat him) at Nationals (ASP & _ _) ... including ... a Stig! :?: 8-)

Stacey,

If KJ can afford the car he can afford to have it painted your favorite color.

Uh, yeah, because some smart marketing type decided to capitalize on the "duck" misnomer and made it a brand name.

The origin is duct, as in air duct. Ipso facto, duct tape. I'm surprised that Mako hasn't started a new thread about gaffer's tape.

This is not the Cup car:

Image

It's the 2010 GT3 RS. It IS the car that Porsche will use for homologation, but it is a U.S. street legal version being introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The Cup car is not federalized and not available at the dealer. Cup cars don't come in a standard color—they are painted in sponsor livery, just like the GT3 RSRs that run in ALMS GT2 class and ALMS Challenge class, the latter using the 2006-2007 model.

If you want to be thoroughly confused about GT3s, read this article from Racecar Engineering:

I'll let Rad know he's mistaken ...

I didn't say the car in the photo was the Cup car.

Yes, you have to go through a dealer to get a Cup car. It's like a firearm ... it can't be sent to your home address. :D

I suppose a dealer can handle delivery; the race-only 997s are ordered directly from Porsche Motorsport North America.

The veritable treasure trove that is Porsche Motorsport: here, customers have the opportunity to order around 20,000 racing and sports parts – from tiny screws right up to the cars themselves.

Of course, you can always buy a used one. ;)
