I totally respect yours and others opinions. As you well know, street tires is ALREADY allowed in stock. Since the very beginning of the RT discussion, I have been trying to understand why we are being lumped into an SK1/SK2 INDEXED type of class to prove interest in "street tire in stock". From my little pee-brain point-of-view, it appears that we're headed toward a permanent SK type of street tire indexed class, as opposed to a street tires only in stock set of classes. No one has explained to me that that is NOT the case. Even though I have asked, even at SCCA.
I wouldn't be so sure. the way classing decisions work, you basically have to 'prove' your concept before it becomes accepted. The current thinking is that there are not enough competitors to support both regular stock and street tire stock so this supplemental class is an outlet for people to 'vote with their feet' so to speak. the participation in this RT class will determine how things pan out for real street tires. But there won't ever be an official indexed national class.

Just an opinion here Ed, but my guess for why each individual stock class not being represented individually has to do with costs. No matter the number of entries, trophies are given out for 1st place. I think all here can agree that SS, AS, and FS are likely to be less subscribed than those with lower HP. I'm guessing they may have that same opinion.
Additionally many regions separate cars as we do. By mixing them by drive line, rather than having one MONGO class using our SK1 / SK2 split, they can potentially fill three moderate sized classes.
If i were able to attend S.D., I to might jump from my normal ride in STS back to a ST tired stock classvehicle to show my support as I ran such for 10+ years.

Just a side note - Our .98 SK handicap breaks down to a difference of 2 seconds over a 100-second course or 1 second over a 50-second course.

Davin did a statistical analysis of the SK1 and SK2 results and found that attendance between the two classes was nearly identical over the course of several months, though if you include ES, the attendance would skew slightly toward SK2.

Just today, in a email reply to KJ, I said that I don't have a major problem with running in RT RWD. I'm just looking for a little more detailed explaination than because "you should".
You've already been given plenty of reasons. You just want to interpret it that way.

You have an RTF ride at the Tour if you want it:

Ed just wants to run Ed-Stock. Everything we say disputing that is just noise. That's my impression of all this after four public threads on three different forums on this now.

Thanks Kurt, I've already got an STR ride. I hope someone like Leonard or Tom D. Can take u up. IF you end up in a bind trying to make class, Karen could jump in, but she really doesn't want to spend money on AX.
Leonard, yes, that Index is of course conservative. Not sure why?

One thing's for sure, it's going to be one helluva show in RTF. Carl won SK2 in San Diego last year and Morgan won the previous two, then you're leading our region this year. Geez, what have I gotten myself into? }:)

The prior question was not about our local classes. I was responding to, and speaking on a national level, why individual ST Stock class entries were not offered at the Pro and Tour. That said, note I excluded BS above which would fall in our Sk1 class, as a great deal of our SK1 has historically consisted of BS (prior AS) S2000's.

...per the same Fastrack, slap a STF magnet on the car and your instantly good to go in any Fiat 500 model. (SEB #7568) }:)
Someone fell asleep on that one.

it wasn't declared unsafe, it was declared "too afraid to class".
