Yeah, there were some people on the west course that got in runs before the deluge hit. That storm moved from east to west, and I also think that the residual heat in the course helped the first few drivers have dry runs. I agree, rain tires didn't help most after the amount of rain that fell in that short amount of time. There was no where for all that water that fell so quickly to go. Growing up in Florida, I've seen my share of rainstorms. However, the soil in Florida is so porous, the water filters quickly from the ground and roads.
I'll try to scan that photo from the Lincoln newspaper for all the people that didn't attend.

Yep, driving my own car, no co-driver. Probably should have had a co-driver to keep my head straight. I ended up getting confused and reversing my front/rear tire pressures on BOTH days, which resulted in a pushy car. All the changes from the past two months of testing - completely out the window. Big time brain fart. AWESOME experience though. Sitting on two dirty runs and not letting up (by the third run I had figured out the air pressure deal, wow that car can get loose now) - feeling of complete satisfaction even if I did end up second to last in class.

(Okay, the satisfaction part came later. I was a little pissed at that moment.) And I was extremely happy with my car position on the course. Just couldn't gas it.
Everybody must do this once in their life.
Oh - and the reason you're just now hearing from me? Hard drive crashed in the Denver airport on the way out. I've been computerless and freaking out about all the related stuff.

We should also congratulate the 2009 SCCA Driver of Eminence, Tom Berry.
If you take a look at 330-331 of your rule book the past winners of the award are a who's who of the fastest and most skilled in our sport:

That OPR is gnarly! I wonder how much CP rubber makes a difference in an ST civic's handling?

We got Brian Peter's wheels/tires yesterday ... yeah the OPR is the most I've ever seen ... and his cars last laps were in the Wet ... I wonder if the unevenness across the tread actually helped a tiny bit over a completely smooth R ?

Maybe you'll get really lucky and she'll let you squirt the tires and check the pressures!
