im sure they will be worth every dollar tho... i know the re01rs were. Surely the upgraded tire should do much better. :D unlike kumho :(
you ST guys are funny. these new tires are almost as expensive as hoosiers. sure you can practice on them longer but you still need to buy a couple sets per year for the national events. I thought this was supposed to be a cheap class?

Cheap class???

custom Koni 2812's at the "lowend" when five ST guys just bought Motons and Tim Smith has Moton Triples....

An ASR rear sway bar with extra bar is $620.

The new tires require bidding up 15x7.5" SSRs that haven't been made in a couple of years to $1400 a set if you can find it.

$1400 Hytech headers.

Undisclosed dollars in "blueprinted" motors from Sunbelt and King and others.

Endless dyno time and the chips a plenty game.

Probably four sets of shaved tires this year for me. And one rain set.

But its still a lot cheaper than building for most classes. And a lot cheaper to maintain and run.

Expensive is the budget I played with to build a fully prepped 135 for STU. OUCH...

Holy crap! That's an outrage! :o
I'm going to try a staggered setup before I do the giant rear bar.

You can easily do a speedway style rear bar for about $250 or so. Jeff Wong (ProParts) can probably order the parts for you from Speedway. I can help you spec it out.

The ASR bar is nice, but not as light as I thought it would be. And you can do it yourself off the shocks and go with a thinner walled bar to save weight like McCormick did.

Looks to me like we're gunna spend less on tires for the FP car this year than we did on the STU car last year, especially if we win a few.

Gotta buy a new car in Nov. anyway. And it's actually cheaper by about $5k than what I would've got (probably a G37 sedan). Hey, that means I can spend more on DAs, cat-back exhaust and tires   :gpower:

Thanks for the comparison info, Jason! It really helps a lot!

I'm already barely touching the coil spring w/ my 245/40R17 RE01R w/ the current setup. Very good to know the newer tires all seem to run a size up. I've been needing to buy a bigger spacer anyway.
