here's the frame before. you were SO CLOSE to sending that cone into the horizon

like i said in the other thread, disappointing image quality, but interesting for info purposes..

Wow ... love the super limited depth of field. Has a dreamy quality.

I found that with really long lens shots ... you can't shoot over hot concrete/asphalt. To much resolution robbing heat waves ... even if they aren't visible. Got to shoot early ... or later over grass, for some heat relief.

My saviour is Smart Sharpen, low doses applied more then once plus some Edge Sharpening if needed. I can't seem to make Smart Sharpen for Motion Blur work, when that would SEEM to be the ticket sometimes.

i was really wondering about that.. having never experienced it, i wasn't sure it would have an impact.

i had the tripod low (~18" off the ground) and the shots you see are full frame at 600mm, so they're far away..

damn you heat waves!

Odd, as only I can know! that nothing seems crisp. Were you shooting wide open? I would have sacrificed noise by using a higher ISO to shoot at least a couple of f/stops stopped down, plus around 1/400th on the head on shots ... for some wheel blur.

I assume you have the older 600 w/o Image Stabilization?

Since nothing is really crisp, yet there doesn't seem to be any motion blur ... I would point the finger at heat waves.

Try shooting jets taking off with looong lenses, from behind ... often nothing will be sharp either.

Interesting camera angle that got the car appearing straight and level. If you PhotoShop the fence posts in the background so they were vertical, it would look like he was driving on a banked course or significant hill.

yeah.. i played around with the angle a bit.. some are more .. exaggerated.. than others.. but the tilt gives it a bit more punch, in my opinion..
