Rick, I'm trying to register for the Lone Pine event online: added the registration & received a "$10 late fee" text - this shouldn't be in effect yet, right?

Not sure if you are aware but Solo Trial events require that all convertibles must have an SCCA legal roll bar. Actually I was asking about any other rules differences. I have a passing acquaintance with LPTT but for my first 20 years it was an autocross.
And as for faster...in the late 70's or so, I was cop-radared there at 115 mph in a 455HO TransAm. Not so much anymore.

I believe it's basically autox rules, except the roll bar requirement for open vehicles & dress code.
And Rick, no worries, I had the bar built for SCCA/NASA rules - my helmet even sits 3" or so below the roll bar

Is a Miata stock hard top (clamp on, not bolted on) legal? The posted flyer still seems to not require any roll bar on non modified cars...

That Miata hard top will fold like a cheap tent if your car goes over, unless you have a roll bar underneath it.

Next question - is a non GCR (Autopower 4 point street) bar allowed under a hard top? This really is very short notice to find out that the rules were posted wrong or changed.

The Solo Trials rules start on page 233 of the Solo Rule book, and there are a number of differences. I know from the pics and video I saw from the last event* that pretty much no one paid attention to XI.2 and a number of people missed XI.5. * although the last Lone Pine event may not have been run under SCCA so these rules would not apply.
X.3.A. Street Modified, Prepared and Modified category vehicles,
and all open vehicles, must have a roll bar meeting current
Solo® Appendix C standards (exception: open cars may substitute
factory hardtops equipped with bolt-in fasteners).
b. All drivers in SCCA-sanctioned Solo Trials events in which a
roll bar or roll cage is installed shall utilize either a five-, six-,
or seven-point restraint harness meeting the following specifications.
A 7-point restraint harness is recommended. Arm
restraints are required on all open cars including open targatops,
sunroofs, and T-tops. The restraint system installation
is subject to approval by the Chief Technical and Safety Inspector.
4. 125cc shifter karts are permitted with the appropriate driver
safety gear as specified in the Solo Rules. However, depending
upon surface irregularities of the site, the DSSS may prohibit
these karts. Junior karts are not permitted.
XI.2. All open cars and closed cars that do not have original equipment
roll up windows must be equipped with a window net, or
the driver must wear an approved arm restraint system. Vehicles
with original equipment roll up windows may compete without
either a window net or a driver arm restraint if the driver side
window is rolled up during competition.
5. All drivers must at a minimum wear 100% cotton (no blends)
outer wear that effectively covers the body from neck to ankles
and wrists. All drivers must wear shoes that cover the entire
foot.

It is funny how Harddog claims SCCA approval of his bars, yet SCCA (HQ) does not approve bars. Kirk and Auto Power are the only ones I have seen make a GCR legal bolt in rollbar.Bob Beamesderfer wrote:Why would you get an Autopower instead of a Harddog?

This thread is not resolving my issues - does anybody know what is going to be required / enforced this year at Lone Pine??? It is a moot point for me, as I am out of the car for several months due to breaking my kneecap coming off my mountain bike last week. My son Bret was still planning on running - we have new tires, motel reservations, and we have the Autopower bar that was going in this weekend. I think that I can also borrow a clamp on hard top for the weekend, if that would make the cut - but we have to know what the rules are going to be. As I indicated before, it seems quite late in the game to be making major changes in car elegibility - and it's still not clear to me (is it to anyone else?) what will be enforced at the event. Any help/clarification by someone in charge would be very helpful.
