Agreed! And I'm sure Rafaella is also relieved.
Latest BBC story says he could be out of the hospital in 10 days. It'll take more time for him to heal enough to drive.

What she sais earlier today:
"He is doing well and soon he will be giving joy to all in his little red car on the track," Massa's pregnant wife Rafaela told Brazil's Globo.

Dino Altmann, Felipe Massa's personal doctor, is certain that Felipe Massa will be able to race again.
Altmann said that the trauma suffered by the Brazilian was not as bad as first thought, and that his condition has improved rapidly.
"I have no doubt Felipe will race again," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm sure of that.
"The situation is still delicate, but I believe his life is not in danger anymore. From the beginning I felt that the trauma wasn't as extended as it was believed, but the improvements of the last hours have gone beyond our wildest expectations."

It's Schenker's DREAM COME TRUE! --->Schumacher to make F1 return in Spain
Now not being a tifosi, I do have to smile at the return of the Schumi! Now I have someone to root against! And if he poles or wins then I tip my hat.

It's somewhat conditional:
The statement said that Schumacher was 'ready' to make his F1 return, and would undertake a training programme over the next few days to ensure he was up to full fitness for an F1 race.

The German, who quit F1 at the end of 2006, injured himself in a motorbike accident earlier this year and the team want to make sure there are no hidden problems before confirming his position.
His manager still says it isn't going to happen.

Once Schumacher gets the green light, it will be the first time he has raced alongside Kimi Raikkonen, as the pair bid to secure Ferrari third place in the constructors' championship.
Kimi's response was:
"Idontcarewhoisintheothercar"

I don't know, he already goes to many of the F1 races and what is more dangerous (ignoring the latest open cockpit racecar accidents), F1 or motorbike racing, where he has already crashed several times and hurt himself pretty badly...

My understanding is that he caught a lot of heat for that last bike crash and made some "promises".....

He's never driven this car. Who knows how much input he had on its design and setup.

it's kinda like armstrong riding down the Champs Elysées again.

winning would make it amazing, but even if he doesn't, it's still pretty special.

In addition to the main injury ..., he was also the victim of a hairline fracture at the base of the skull.
scary

and I have seen this mentioned only once or twice:
"The safety belt violently compressed his body in the collision and his intestines and bile duct received a severe shock," the doctor told AFP.
"The inflammation is gradually getting better, as is his general state of health," the doctor added.

or

"The Brazilian driver had suffered a gallbladder inflammation due to his accident but his overall condition was improving, said the doctor from AEK hospital in Budapest, where Massa was brought after Saturday's crash."
"The safety belt violently compressed his body in the collision and his intestines and gallbladder received a severe shock," he said.

And Bill Schenker is NOWHERE in sight on the boards.....hmmmmm. His silence is deafening! :)

But a part of me did want to see him return but reality was, no f-ing way can he just "jump in" to this new car. If the rules had been the same since his last season of driving, then the car would've been similar, and had he not wrecked doing bikes maybe. Oh well....the Ferrari empire is crumbling.

I don't know, Gio. The legend of Michael Schumacher exceeds only that of the legend of the BMW M3.

After two lackluster races by test driver Luca Badoer, Ferrari has signed Giancarlo Fisichella for the remainder of the season.

A dream come true for Giancarlo apparently ... from what they were saying on SPEED after Spa. Sounds like he would have done anything to finally get to drive for Ferrari. After getting a ride in Rad's Ferrari at the PCA event last Sunday ... I can SEE WHY! Man ... the mechanical sounds in that car when the engine is pushed are amazing ... and truly elevate it over a GT-3!

I wonder what the deal was? Apparently Force India wanted their considerable debt to Ferrari wiped clean in order to release GF.

Another exciting development for this year!

So is Brawn/Button going to be able to save their season ?!

Apparently Vijay still owes Ferrari for engines, so release Fisi and promote Liuzzi.

Were you around a few years ago when the Enzo driver was taking Evo school? Car sounded benign at idle; not so when the throttles opened. Visceral only begins to describe the sound.

The worst kept secret in F1....but good for Giancarlo. Happy for him. And if he wins at the next race??? An Italian driver, driving for an Italian team, racing at Monza, Italy??? The tifosi will explode!
