Is Formula V Tire Restorer Solo Legal?

Hey, I bought brand new Michelin MXX3 tires from Discount Tire when they were one of the hot STS tires ('00?) for the bargain price of ~$180/each. It wasn't until I realized how much they sucked that I found out how to read the date code and found out that the tires were 5-6 years old when I bought them. But, El Toro, Wendover, and Atwater were no match for those tires (no wear).

Does it work on brand new tires with an '05 build date....cause that's what you get when you buy NEW Yoks.

We actually specifically addressed this when I was on the SEB, and I thought it made it into the minutes in Fastrack. (Not sure when, unfortunately.) What we said then was pretty much what Jason said above--that it was fine for cars and classes that didn't have to use DOT approved rubber, but that it should not be used in those classes. FYI, neither Formula V nor any other tire treatment should be used in Formula Junior, because the approved tires in those classes were selected for their hardness, and should not be treated with any chemical that changes that.

Much ado about nothing. With a few exceptions, most people need new tires to win at the highest levels. Formula V can help to somewhat revive old hard rubber but will not make the tire competitive again. This is suppoed to be fun people. Why all the fuss?

I wonder what it will do to the brand new shaved street tires that I only plan to run 6 times? Will it make my 140 treadwear tires with a good stiff sidewall more like 40 treadwear tires?

I don't really plan on doing that, but maybe someone else does...what then?

It has no affect on new tires.
