"Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.; Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Is Borat the I.T. guy @ SCCA now?

Free Internet Publicity (old article, but new Jalopnik post):

The author gets it a little wrong, it's 4 runs per session, not 6. (4 runs per session, 3 sessions, = 12 runs plus any challenge runs)

Man, the sign up system really shouldn't let you chose a class that isn't available for an event. There are folks signed up for XP right now, but all XP cars run in R1.

Sent a message to ken about if parking at el toro would be the same as last year, he said yes. Here is what he posted last year.
Ken Motonishi wrote:Sorry for the delay. For anyone interested there will be storage offered between the SD Tour and the El Toro Pro. Same deal as the past 2 yrs: $25/week. I will be taking care of that so if you have any questions feel free to email or call me.

Very few people sign up so far, is that normal?

Looks better than the last 2 years to me. People on the east coast sign up all in the first 30 minutes, people in the west wait till the day they are going to raise the cost of entry.

Feel free to encourage folks to sign up. Folks should be signing up, you get 12 competition runs guaranteed in the most exciting format of Solo and everyone is guaranteed to have at least 5 people in their class. ;)

Remember if you run a Mod or Prep car you need to sign up in the R1 indexed class, all the Prep and mod cars run together. If you don't you run the chance of having your number taken by someone who signed up in the correct class. Already happened to Fred Zust as far as I can tell. It works the same as the Ladies L1 and L2 classes.

I know that the San Diego national event is going to have the local SK classes available, is the same true for the Pro Solo event at El Toro? I only started last November so I'm trying to figure out how these national events work and if it's worth me getting a solo license just to go to one event (I live in Santa Barbara and San Diego is too far for me.)

Also, I'm not familiar with the Pro Solo format. From reading the SCCA website it seems like it's 1 on 1 on two mirror image tracks, is that right? Is there somewhere where I can read more specifics about the format of the competition?

Looking at the schedule, it mentions practice on Friday, as well as registration and tech. Is it mandatory to attend on Friday, or can I just show up the day of like a would for a normal CSCC Championship event?

Thanks in advance!

Jeff - read this :

http://www.speedsportlife.com/2009/11/0 ... h-corners/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

SK classes will be available (sign up for AM).

I would strongly advise getting there by Friday lunch time. You'll want to practice starts and they have classes to explain what the heck is going on.

Finally - DO IT. Pro Solo is the most fun you can have with your pants on.

Short lunch break, course open for walking
Heat Two Starts (approx 1pm to 6pm)
Course open for walking after the day's runs are complete

Sunday:
El Toro Gates open (6:00am)
Course Walking
Cars in grid (7:30am)
Worker Check-In (7:45am)
Heat Three Starts (8am)
Challenge Competitions (approx 2pm) Host Region provides workers for the challenge competitions so we will need volunteers
Champagne Shower for Challenge winners and Awards presentations after challenges are complete (4 pm ish)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat Names:
Heat 1 Saturday morning (Sat AM)
Heat 2 Saturday afternoon (Sat PM)
Heat 3 Sunday morning (Sun AM)
Challenges Sunday afternoon (Sun PM)

An example of a run order, will change based on class sizes. Official run order will be printed on the registration paper you receive when you register:
Group 1 FJA, FJB, HS, GS, FS, ES, STS
Group 2 L2, DS,
Group 3 CS, BS, AS
Group 4 SS, ST, B1
Group 5 STX, FSP, ESP, DSP, STR
Group 6 CSP, BSP, L1,
Group 7 ASP, SM, SSM, SMF, STU
Group 8 R1 (Race Tire Index – all Prep and Mod), F125, B2

Work order based on run group order:
Work Shift A Groups 1 & 2 Running
Work Shift B Groups 3 & 4 Running
Work Shift C Groups 5 & 6 Running
Work Shift D Groups 7 & 8 Running

You must work three times: Sat AM, Sat PM, Sun AM and we need volunteers for the challenges (best seat in the house to watch)

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Grid positions will be posted at the entrance to grid before runs begin. Sat morning you are lined up by numerical order, the other heats you are lined up by class finishing order after the previous heat There will be two grids, A and B. The grids move quickly so keep an eye out for what group is running and what group is getting into the other grid.

Runs: You get two runs on each side per heat. For example you are in grid spot 11. This means that you will start on the left side course. Run the left, right, left, right then go to impound. (It goes very quickly so if your adrenaline isn’t pumping by the time its over, you are probably dead)

Impound: After you 4th run you will be directed to impound where you have to open you hood and trunk and then wait for results to be delivered. This is so that if there are any mistakes in the results you can bring it up while everyone in your class is around. Results can be both slow or fast so have patience and the Impound workers in blue vests will bring them to you and then release you (do not leave before they have done this).

-------------------------------------------------------------------
If you can make it to the site early on friday there is a Evolution Performance driving school specially tailored to ProSolos.

I'd also strongy suggest signing up for the Evo School Hole Shot class on Fri.: http://tinyurl.com/ycylpbs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You get a great overview of how everything works, plus a bunch of practice starts for only $25. Best deal in town, plus it helps de-mystify the whole process, which lets you enjoy it a lot more. I'm signing up just for the practice starts, to refresh my memory.

All prepared and mod right? So also SSM, GP too. Even Darren DiSimo is signed up in P1, not R1.

My excuse is the class rules for Pro keep changing and I keep getting older.

p.s. I will probably not run XP anyway... just needed to get my entry in.
