I miss Solo 1. I used to race an Abarth Alemano in vintage events and was constantly being sent up against faster cars almost every race - the Abarth was too fast, yeah - right! Anyways, I switched over to Solo 1 back in the early 80's and had a great time running at Riverside (OMG am I showing my age here?), Willow, and the Las Vegas Speedrome, the Abarth still holds the track record for H-Prod. Wish we still had this form of racing available, was certainly a lot less expensive than Regional and National events.

SCCA still does with the PDX and TT program... Just for some reason none of the Socal clubs do it. Reno and Colorado have been running them for some time, and starting in 2009 AZ will have them.John Edwards wrote:I miss Solo 1. Re: Solo 1 vs Solo 2
Hill Climbs are big in Europe ... there is (was?) a Championship series. The factory Porsche's (906's, short super light 908's) were the model of efficiency. A fairly small copper (I think) orb with the fuel, pressurized ... direct injection to the cylinders. Just enough for the short run up the hill. That was quite a few years ago.

The main problem here is Papa CalClub not wanting to give up track time. That was the biggest problem Tom and I had and so most just quit or went to other Clubs that give them more track time.Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:SCCA still does with the PDX and TT program... Then they will continue to give revenue away to other groups. Colo and AZ are on top of this and making money from it.

In Solo, as long as you can avoid Tasha, nobody drives into your car... }:)
