speaking from a completely personal perspective. it's not that i enjoy the frustration.Bob Beamesderfer wrote:Which do you want more? Hardware that works out of the box the first time or days of frustration?
I'll openly admit, that when i build a PC from parts, there's always some sort of hiccup (not so with my dell laptop though, which i equate more to a ready made mac, but still cheaper). sometimes the hiccup is solved quickly, sometimes it takes a few days.
the reason why i build my own PC instead of buying a mac though, is pure $$$$.
I simply can't afford the mac that i want if it was built to the specs I want. I don't want to pay in excess of 5000 for a computer.

I use OSX.
My servers run Linux (CentOS & Ubuntu)

Yeah, 'cause Apple never decides which of their old hardware is too old to support in the new version. As a matter of fact, I saw a toaster Mac running Snow Leopard just the other day...Kurt Rahn wrote:You guys sound like a Mac ad.

Yup, I run a whole network of Macs, so crap like that gets old very quickly. :unimpressed:John Stimson wrote:Yeah, 'cause Apple never decides which of their old hardware is too old to support in the new version. DUH ... so we just hardwired the new desktop to our router. Didn't realize that those LAN outlets on our router were for ethernet and that we could have wireless and LAN at the same time.

Wireless is nice when you need to move around, but Copper is Proper when you don't.
Wires are static, reliable, and fast.
