I can't find anything in the law that states it applies to commercial vehicles only. The Ryder truck is under 26001lbs, and only two axle, so it is not a "commercial truck" per Federal law, and as such no CDL is required to drive it. BUT.... for arguments sake, P/U's are registered as a commercial vehicle in the state of CA, no matter your usage. So the "commercial" argument may not hold water.

Notice that shell on my truck? Notice the passenger car type plates on my truck? If the shell is on when you register the truck and you state that it will be on it all the time... then you are not classified as a commersial vehicle.

Huh?! I've owned two pickups and neither were registered as commercial vehicles.

Licence plate=#A##### is "commercial" plates, and you pay significantly more on registration. My 'Cargo' van gets hit too, the registration guy told me it needed seats in the back to get non-commercial plates.

I've owned 5 'Private' commercial vehicles now.

Growing up our Chevy 3/4 ton was registered as an "RV", and as such had to be such full time. I was always told that to be a "full time RV", it had to have included a built in bed, not just a temporary one. I remember my dad got pulled over once when he was taking it to a shop to have the motor pulled and rebuilt.... and had a hell of a time with DMV afterward explaining why it didn't have the camper on it that day, (the shop could not lift it with it attached, height issue)... and keep the RV designation. Good to know the shell qualifies.

Boy, it sure is good to know we can count on our leaders and police to help us figure out which vehicles we can drive without incurring extra costs. We should all be grateful.

Soon, we may have to choose if we want to breathe out of not. Fortunately, breathing in air is not yet a crime, however exhaling may be outlawed or taxed now that our leaders have determined that can be hazardous to your health. But as long as we're willing to pay the tax, I think they may allow us to go on living.
