So, after breaking the stunned silence with my laughter, I said, "There's no difference between the calf in that pen and a head of lettuce in the ground. Both are specifically grown to be on my plate. One is the salad I eat before the veal parmigiana". I was then asked to leave the classroom for being "insensitive"...
