I originally suggested along the same lines as you Rick, but it was suggested to me by our Chairman-Elect to do all national events.Rick Brown wrote:I can see Tours & Pros in the western US, but do we really need the east coast ones on our calendar?

Not necessary, but there aren't that many others, and its good for our membership to know where and what is up with the SCCA big events.

Another minor update
As I saw the schedule for my marque club (BMWCCA-SD chapter) 2009, which means SCCA-SD region should be getting their schedule ready soon. One event is on Feb. 1st (BMW) And I checked and we too have one also (CASOC). What else is going on that day......?

Re: 2009 Calendar
Which won't happen in SD. Nor very likely involve the Chargers. As for Solo attendance on Super Bowl Sunday, the January 2003 Championship Sunday coincided with the Super Bowl. There were more than 300 participants and the last run group ran in the dark at Hollywood Park.Giovanni Jaramillo wrote: Super Bowl Sunday (Super Bowl XLIII - 43)
Despite some, or your, love of the NFL, don't assume it will mean a diminished turnout.

Re: 2009 Calendar
You assume too much Bob. I just added it on, just like Long Beach Grand Prix is a big event, albeit it's not a motor racing event. And I personally don't think it would diminish turnout at all as the event would be close to done by kickoff.Bob Beamesderfer wrote:Despite some, or your, love of the NFL, don't assume it will mean a diminished turnout.
Re: 2009 Calendar
Hi Gio, I noticed that the Evo School that conflicts with our champ event/practice (2/28-3/1) is on the calendar, but the one the previous weekend isn't. On 2/21, they're offering Phase I and a teen school, and on 2/22, they're offering Phase I (again) and Phase II. One caveat for the 2/21-22 weekend is apparently PCA members have first crack at the classes until 1/25.

Re: 2009 Calendar
It's not really a conflict since it's in conjuction with our region as Robert Puertas is part owner of that and is a member and founder of PSCC. If Robert wants me to put on the other events on our calendar I will but since it's more advertising for a non-SCCA club (i.e. Porsche Club of America - PCA) then that's a no-no.Kurt Rahn wrote:Hi Gio, I noticed that the Evo School that conflicts with our champ event/practice (2/28-3/1) is on the calendar, but the one the previous weekend isn't. I didn't assume anything. Just made the point that the Super Bowl doesn't equal low turnout for autocross.Giovanni Jaramillo wrote:You assume too much Bob. No, but pooring rain does. Last year's Superbowl Sunday practice in San Diego was a boat race on wheels (ask Plante about it).Bob Beamesderfer wrote:I didn't assume anything. Just made the point that the Super Bowl doesn't equal low turnout for autocross.
Good news is the Bowl doesn't start until the evening, so most can be back home by the time it starts. I was last year and that was after cleaning up and driving 1.5hr+ home.

Calendar updated with San Diego Region events for first 5 months. Not many conflicts. For the real autocross junkies there will be lots to choose from in So Cal

Re: 2009 Calendar
The Divisional that was supposed to be hosted by us (Cal Club) is officially cancelled an in place it will be a normal practice/championship weekend. TCC was the scheduled club to host but has backed out. Stepping in, for the 2nd time this season will be CASOC to host it at El Toro (July 25-26th). Calendar has been updated.

You're right, they've been classed in the "tougher" class of BSP
