Cal Club Autocross Forums

Currently, I am in STX. My Honda Civic EX is a NA 1.8L and has an aftermarket suspension (Camber, shocks/struts, sway, etc.), intake, and exhaust. Also, it is sitting on 17X8 235/40 RE-01R. What other options do I have besides STX? I have done research but I am not completely sure. Thanks!

I'm assuming you don't want to switch parts back to stock.

STX is actually a very good fit for your car with street tires.
The next closest preparation level for your car would be DSP.
San Diego has a pretty active DSP field. I'm not sure who will run DSP this year in LA.
You could also run bump in STU with your Civic.

Heads up means the time you run will be compared directly to the times your competitors run.

If you run a 62 and your competitors run 64s, you will win.
If you beat your competitors in raw time, you win.

In an indexed class, times are multiplied by a factor called PAX.
Say driver B.S. drives a a car in an imaginary class called CeeEssPee.
CeeEssPee has a .500 PAX factor.
B.S. runs a 99sec lap.

Driver G.J. drives a car in an imaginary class called AyStock.
AyStock has a .600 PAX factor.
G.J. runs a 82.6sec lap.

G.J. and B.S. are running in an indexed class called PAX class.
If they were racing heads up, G.J. would win with a 82.6sec lap.

But since they are racing in an indexed class, we will multiply their times by the PAX factor for results.

B.S. time X CeeEssPee Factor:
99seconds x .500 = 49.500seconds

G.J. time X AyStock Factor:
82.6 x .600 = 49.56seconds

B.S. in this case will win with a 49.500second indexed time.

Heads up with no index means you will be racing against all the other cars in the class for best time.
Which in CST means you would run against the Exige, the Elise, the Noble, and any other dudes with enough money to buy a nice car, but not enough to keep it in proper tires. }:)
Basically CST is run what ya brung as long as the tires are +140 treadwear rated.

If I were you I'd stick with STX, try to catch up to Aaron's Mini for now.

With the R-comps, your best fit is CSP. With the +140 treadwear tires, you could run our local SST.
SST already has an NC and an NB doing battle.

But in Stock form it's E-Stock or we have a local classes called SK1 (SS, AS, BS, FS) or SK2 (CS, DS, ES, GS). But with your mods, I'm sure others will chime in as to what your proper class. This off the top of my head and doing a quick check of the rules.

Locally you are eligible for CST. Its not a national class. But is a fun group locally and your car would be probably be pretty good there.

Everything else would be BRUTAL.

SSM depending on the configuration of those strut bars and any interior removal.

nm...i figure that part out. When i was registering i saw the option novice and time only... should i be in the novice class, since this is my first championship event and second time autocross?

You can sign up for Novice (with an index class of CST) which is a local class than you can compete in all year for a year end trophy, based on your best 6 events. Time Only is just that, for time only with no trophies or points for year end.

Actually, the MR2 turbo is in B-Stock - the normally aspirated MR2 is in E-stock, while the Spyder and Supercharged version are in C-stock, but the car in question is modded...

Yes unlimited. All the rules for SST are based on STU the only difference is that it lets in the otherwise excluded two seaters.
SST is a local class. There is some interest in exploring this as a national class, but it usually takes a lot of time and effort for that to happen.

CST is a local barely any rooms, bring what you could plausibly drive on the street with normal street safety equipment and a 140 treadwear DOT tire of any size on any rim.
No chance that ever becomes a national class.
