Wow, that's a different approach. It does mean you have to be there the full day to get in the full runs, which is a bit of a bummer over the "work one session do as many runs as you can in another session " model. I'm guessing by the end of the day a lot of people will have bugged out and there may be time to do more than 4 runs that group.

Actually, you're talking about a practice day. You'd run multiple times, not just once. The champ is on Sun., and there you'd run just once, unless you bought X runs.

Collin ... the problem with the Run Any Time mode is that the wait times in Grid can be quite long.

The method we're using on Saturday allows shorter wait times with "known" amounts of time in between run groups ... important for the folks that are Test and Tuning before Nationals in a couple of weeks, ie. making changes to their set-up. Also the run groups are more like race run groups.

Plus you have a chance of keeping heat in race tires this way.

I assume there is a line for two driver cars?

Henry has lent me his Casio EX-F1 ... so I'm going to try to shoot 300 frames per second sequences of everyone. I'll try to find an interesting combination of corners/slaloms that will allow me to get your car in a variety of situations. In order to facilitate that, the organizers are kindly giving me a Run Anytime sticker ... otherwise those that would be in my run group won't get covered.

We generally put two drivers (assuming two entries) in two different run groups when ever possible on practices. See me at registration.

This works on Run/Rest/Work, KJ. George is proposing when you're not working, you're running. A two driver line will be needed for this method if the drivers paid for seperate entries.

...and yes, you have to be there all day long to get the full amount runs. That's how almost every, no, forget almost, every practice I've been to works...

...and there are 100+ entrants right now. Long day. Pack a lunch and plan on being there awhile...

With a 100 people? Run all day without assigned run groups????
I don't want any part of that. Spend 40 minutes in grid to get 1 run? Looks like I paid $70 to get 3 runs because I can't spend all day in grid and run the kids course too. Its impossible. Did somebody get the hyped up fantasyland talk from Brian Robertson?

Wait, huh? I thought we were doing flags? Two colors run at a time, rotating throughout the day and then you work once, no?

That's not actually how it works. The flag system has you running during specific periods as well.

There are assigned run groups. It isn't a run when not working event.

Yes, the flag system. Not the open run session.

It's actually not that bad - went very smoothly at the CASOC practice. It will be all day, like every practice, but not a mass of cars at one time in grid.

Flag system is new and exciting to me...

...but again, like any other practice, plan on being there all day to get your full amount of runs.

Below is the morning schedule for the Saturday practice. If you are a 2 driver car, it's slightly easier if you pick different work groups, but if you want to work together, we can accommodate you. Notice that course closes for walking at 8:20 and there is a drivers meeting at 8:30.

Since only a handful are familiar with the flag system, it's important that everyone attend the drivers meeting at 8:30 to learn first hand how it works. First work group should come to the meeting prepared to work. You will be sent out from there. First car out will be at 9:00 sharp. This system works very well as long as we start on time so I ask that each of you be on time for the meeting @ 8:30. Work times and run order will be assigned at registration.

Thanks everyone.

Tech/Registration 7:00 - 8:30
Course closes for walking at 8:20
Drivers meeting 8:30
First car out at 9:00

12 runs each (4 runs per session marked off in grid) More if time allows

Six work groups

Each participant will work once, about an 80 minute work session.

This is subject to change depending on weather and number of entries.
