Missed that this was about the Oct 24th event because there is no date in the thread title... Have to say that I'm kind of bummed... My family (mom and 3 younger sisters) is coming out from VT for the weekend and I was planning to give them rides at the Saturday practice...

Why can't you give them rides? It's not a championship..... heck many Cup runs are taken with the owner in the passenger seat giving tips to the team driver.

I was going to ask about that ... so in effect we can have car owner/instructors riding during competition runs?

Andrew ... put your name on the list ... say you want to be part of a SCNAX team (Which I now see you've already done) ... and your family will get lots of rides!

Also X Runs on Sunday ...

I don't think we ever went as far as making a limiting rule, but it was expected that the only instruction you would receive on competition runs were from teammates, not outsiders. Passengers by definition are different than instructors (think championships), and as such are dead weight.... (or maybe counterbalance weight :computer:) .... but along for the fun of the ride, not to provide instructions.

Tech workers need for the SCNAX cup weekend 10/24, 10/25

Post by Marcus Russell »

Get there early, work right away...then play all day... how can you beat that?

Would you like to work tech as your work assignment for 10/24 and 10/25? Do you think you can get to the track early? (No, Homie.. I mean early)

Do you enjoy looking at other peoples cars and scouting the competition? (Not that I've ever done that)

Do you have the ability to write legibly on a tech sticker? (not that it has stopped people in the past)

Do you look good in a pair of gloves? (I highly recommend you bring some gloves...sometimes there's fighting)

Well if you've answered yes to the previous questions then I have a job for you. This is the official open call for tech workers for the SCNAX cup and points race the following day.

Interested parties should respond this thread and indicate if you would prefer to work tech on Saturday or Sunday.

Okey Dokey, SMokey... I'll see you when I see ya...unless I see you first

So far you can only get in to this event if you're on a team, correct?

Marcus, I should be able to work tech both days in the morning for sure. I'll let you know later about maybe doing the afternoons as well if needed.
You know me, always early. ;)

I did the championship event in December last year, Pro-Solo at El Toro in 2009, and... shoot, a bunch of practice events. I would guess I don't qualify, even if the pro-solo event was equivalent to more than one event in terms of number of runs?

On the other hand, I'm not a very experienced autocrosser, so I might be dead weight to a team. I do however, have more than one car to bring to the match, if an exceptions were to be granted ;)

'08 MazdaSpeed 3 - STU, Dunlop StartSpecs,
'89 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II - Fresh rebuild on almost everything
'02 1.8T Jetta - STX, Eibach suspension, bit tired Bridgestones

Kind of eclectic mix, sure to bring them to other events this year.
'06 Mazda MX-5 Miata - STR Starting Point
'08 MazdaSpeed 3 STU - FWD basket case
- The loosest nut in my cars is still the one behind the wheel.

One of the reasons you have to list your last three events is to get your "handicap". Less experienced /high handicaps drivers can be a boost to a team if they happen to improve at the SCNAX Cup event. Novices are sometimes considered one of the winning factors. :ibrightdea:

I agree. If you can provide your last three events thats fine as long as the times can be confirmed.

You know you don't need to have more than two different car types? Is it that you want to drive an AWD?

Thanks, Ron! Guess I should have read the rules!

OK, so we are looking for another potential team member of any type. (RWD, FWD, AWD not too sure about Karts, though....)

Lisa,

If the rest of your group can put up with the (very) senior member from the former team "Viagra", then I'm game to give it a go.

Maybe I can get a seniors handicap! :D

If you'd care to respond by PM you've got my email address.

Hi Collin, were still looking for members, and need a FWD car. Both Ken and I have many years of experience. If you can find the three events of results for Art, we would be interested in having you join us with the STU car.
