Bills car needs a 6speed trans that he drives all the time in 3rd gear with the standard 6sp final drive ratio to give a top speed of 79mph at 7500rpm. combine that with a 1.8l turbo motor with a turbo sized to spool at ~3000rpm so that you're in boost by 30mph in 3rd with 2nd available if you're really going slow. with the stock 9.5:1 pistons and c16 that shouldn't be too much to ask. with out running any numbers i'd guess a gt28 or 16g should get 'er done, to the tune of roughly 280-300whp. the car would have to weigh 2240 so you'd have to add 200 or so lbs in the trunk giving you a near perfect RWD weight distribution of 45/55 f/r. Slap a good sized wing on the back for good measure.....

Anything over 250 rwhp will need a stouter transmission and diff, either from an FD or the new Quaiffe internals and the 1,000hp diff that Flyin' Miata $ell$. It's only money, right?
