interesting. I thought he was the person i was talking to that told me it wasn't SM2 legal. I'm certainly no expert though.

That could very well be; my questions to him were based on building an XP car. Back to the turbo. Wonder if the new MZ motor can be fit without cutting?

Anything over 250 rwhp will need a stouter transmission and diff, either from an FD or the new Quaiffe internals and the 1,000hp diff that Flyin' Miata $ell$. It's only money, right? The advantage to the latter solution is that you keep the power plant frame, which links the transmission and differential housings, reducing momentary twist.

If your car weighs the typical 3,450 pounds, you're pushing 12.8 pounds per lb-ft of torque, while Bill is pushing 14.3 pounds per lb-ft. You can win in straight line, but the car's skid pad rating is .98g. A Miata with the milder and much less sophisticated Racing Beat suspension pulls 1g. Bill's car certainly pulls more than 1g. Forget the 13b.

The Miata solution for SM2 is Bill's car with the 2.3 duratec as used in the new Formula Atlantics.
300 hp na.
Of course the power band is probably 8000 rpm to 11000 rpm so you'd want a sequential gearbox...

Can I play? I'm sure on OEM rubber the car has skidpad holding grip above .7 or so....
