Yeah what's up with this market anyways! Oil goes down and you'd think market would do the opposite

I agree on that principle. But remember.....if I'm the longshot wouldn't you want bigger returns??

Come on, I'm like the DIA options on the market.

Perfect = BMW (49.5/50.1) front/rear

I'm sure Marshall can lend you some vehicle dynamics books, unless you wanna keep believing BMW's marketing..

..then again maybe they have you sold on that applying brakes to teh rear wheels is just as good as a limited slip ;)
P.S. I like will's response a lot.

The only sure things in life are:
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Schenker RED lighting at a ProSolo (usually the left side)!!!

Bills car needs a 6speed trans that he drives all the time in 3rd gear with the standard 6sp final drive ratio to give a top speed of 79mph at 7500rpm. combine that with a 1.8l turbo motor with a turbo sized to spool at ~3000rpm so that you're in boost by 30mph in 3rd with 2nd available if you're really going slow. with the stock 9.5:1 pistons and c16 that shouldn't be too much to ask. with out running any numbers i'd guess a gt28 or 16g should get 'er done, to the tune of roughly 280-300whp. the car would have to weigh 2240 so you'd have to add 200 or so lbs in the trunk giving you a near perfect RWD weight distribution of 45/55 f/r. Slap a good sized wing on the back for good measure.....
hey how much do miata's cost? :heyes:
I have one sitting in my driveway. It started out kinda cheap...

i'd say the main drawback of a 13b in a miata for SM2 would be that it doesn't meet the rules. ;)
word on the street is you have to clearance the front subframe to fit the 13b which is a no-no in SM. would be sweet though.
I don't think O'Blenes had to do that with the setup he's got. Dry sump is necessary.

interesting. I thought he was the person i was talking to that told me it wasn't SM2 legal. I'm certainly no expert though.

You wouldn't have
a chance, TM(tm) against my car on an off/on ramp/cloverleaf. Period.
KEEP smokin' whatever it is your smokin because when you wakeup and realize all you see is my tailpipes merging onto the fwy from the on-ramp you'll realize that "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE".
Besides...heading into a cloverleaf I'd outbrake you, you'd somewhat catchup then coming out of the cloverleaf, I'd squeeze the throttle and you'd wobble in my turbulence.
Go back to "catching predators" on camera for NBC

You're daft. Your M3 has neither the light weight nor the lateral grip carry speed into the corner. Brake all you want because you have to. Bill's car won't need to.
So, what does your M3 weigh and how much horsepower does it really have?

That could very well be; my questions to him were based on building an XP car. Back to the turbo. Wonder if the new MZ motor can be fit without cutting?

Anything over 250 rwhp will need a stouter transmission and diff, either from an FD or the new Quaiffe internals and the 1,000hp diff that Flyin' Miata $ell$. It's only money, right? The advantage to the latter solution is that you keep the power plant frame, which links the transmission and differential housings, reducing momentary twist.

If your car weighs the typical 3,450 pounds, you're pushing 12.8 pounds per lb-ft of torque, while Bill is pushing 14.3 pounds per lb-ft. You can win in straight line, but the car's skid pad rating is .98g. A Miata with the milder and much less sophisticated Racing Beat suspension pulls 1g. Bill's car certainly pulls more than 1g. In the corners, you lose.

Forget the 13b.
The Miata solution for SM2 is Bill's car with the 2.3 duratec as used in the new Formula Atlantics.
300 hp na.
Of course the power band is probably 8000 rpm to 11000 rpm so you'd want a sequential gearbox...

We're talking bone-stock to bone-stock not Bill's monster CSP car.

Bone stock civic with me driving... 2500lbs
85 ft lbs of torque.
power to weight of 29.4
Can I play? I'm sure on OEM rubber the car has skidpad holding grip above .7 or so....

Since the only Miata I own is my CSP Miata, you are saying that you'd outbrake, out run, blah, blah, blah
my Miata.
What are
you smoking?
