Yes and I know where my old kart is.
Probably needs a refresh of all systems. But it had a pro-built motor, extended porch and a big seat.

Located in Costa Mesa. Not sure about price...

BTW - The Mondiale is sold, but the F440 for $4k is available:

That's crazy cheap for a pretty darn fast car.

So the practice went overall pretty well. I had an incredible time and Ron, you sir are a saint haha, thank you.
I stalled a couple times (my excuse is being used to driving a subaru you don't want to rev much to get off the line cause you'll burn the clutch) and managed to flip Ron over the kart which I felt pretty bad about.
But what a rush, that little thing was incredible. Nothing I've driven or rode in could come near what it was like driving that kart. Now I'm on the hunt for a truck and a kart to put in the bed!

Hmmm, a kart would be a great excuse for me to buy an orange racing suit.

so my buddy nick brought up the idea of getting a roof rack for either my wrx or his E36 and strapping the kart (when we get one) to the roof rack, rather than me selling my wrx and getting a half-ton pick up. Anyone have experience with this or opinions? apparently some people on ekartingnews do it...
and btw Ron, I finally got my scca member card today. I've been a member since April 2009.

You don't technically need to attach your points card/number to a particular vehicle. It is your number. And besides, what did you drive before and what did you drive to the event in?

What you need is a Subaru Pick-Up truck: http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech ... icro-truck

I can't imagine putting a go-kart onto of a WRX. I recall my WRX wagon had a ridiculously low weight capacity for it's roof cargo rails.

Unfortunately you'll probably end up with a pick-up or I think preferably a van ... or the combination of the two like Ron uses.

I was thinking of getting a small enclosed trailer. You could haul multiple karts/gear and have a place to store it in when you get home. I have seen some at Home Depot.
Not sure what your towing capacity is on a Subi/hitch combo and what the gross wt. of the trailer is?

I used to tow my kart and trailer with my 4 cylinder Honda Oddysey.

I am now the socal dealer for Trailex and was thinking it would be cool to have them make a custom kart trailer. One you could stack two karts in, and a place for kart things like stands and spare tires.

A very early F125 guy, John Broderick out of Denver, used to always haul his kart by putting it on the back/top of his first generation MR2. Looking really odd.

I used to run my wrx before it started knocking a lot...
I'd love to get a truck like that mako, wow.
My wrx "can tow" 2000lbs with a trailer brake and I think 1500 without so towing a small trailer isn't an issue its just storing it somewhere and buying one.
Ideally I don't want to get rid of my wrx so I guess I'll look into trailers. Is home depot a decent place to start looking to at least see whats going on pricewise for a small trailer?

That's the one I bought. Put corner posts on it to make a 2nd level that is about the same height as the kart stand. That way I can load and unload from the trailer to the stand by myself and there is storage space under for the stand. plus it's still a lot shorter than the Tribute I tow with and it has zero effect on mileage. One note, if you get that one, immediately repack the wheel bearings with a high quality grease (I used synthetic). While I tow in the right lanes, I rarely go 55, often more like 80-85. On the way back from a San Diego event I had a bearing lockup and destroy the tire, too. (Thanks to the Berry family for rescuing me!) When I took it apart the original grease was dried up. If it's in the budget, you might get the 12" wheels to reduce wheel speed.

I would recommend going to a kart track during a practice event or race weekend and walk around the paddock. You will see how other people haul their karts around and might pick up some good ideas :ibrightdea: Someone may be selling thier rig so bring your checkbook.

Also get a book on karting. Secrets of Speed series by Memo G.
Go to the Pitts and look around. They have free copies of GORacing magazine.

that trailer looks like a great idea. Cheap, small, fits a kart etc.
Now n00btime, Do I need to register the trailer? and how do I go about hooking up the lights for the trailer, like syncing it with my car?
Thanks guys and I'll look into checking out some local tracks ron, thanks for the idea.

Yes it needs to be registered. Not a big deal and it's good for 5 years I think. The trailer comes with a flat 4 pin connector that is common for trailers. May have to splice into your wiring harness, but that's easy, too.
