I'll be playing in STS next year with a car that is hopefully setup right.
I've spent the last several months chasing the setup and I think I'm finally getting close, now it's time to shutup and drive!

This is the same car that came a DSQ away from winning a natl championship... WHY THE HELL WOULD TO CHANGE A THING?Sebastian Rios wrote:I'll be playing in STS next year with a car that is hopefully setup right.

Civics change over time. Sometimes over the same lap. Flexi Flyers.
And the class evolves.
And the setup for 205-40-16 Flakens is different than the setup for 195-50-15 'stones.
If we were discussing a fast car this September the comment makes sense, but how long go was that DSQ?

I wonder if anything has changed on the Kmo car since it was top dog... I would bet it still has the same oil in it, and is just as fast.Steve Ekstrand wrote:Civics change over time. Sometimes over the same lap. Flexi Flyers.

You are probably right, I just had to tinker...actually, Steve is right (thanks for the backup), the setup has changed since '05.Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote: This is the same car that came a DSQ away from winning a natl championship... If Nationals moves to a concrete site, I won't have to change anything since I'm still running my 2005 Forbes Field setting for concrete.
I took a close look at the Motons on Mike King's STS2 CRX and those things are realllly nice....
Got my S2000 closer to BSP setup with coil-overs, 18x9 fronts with 245/35-18 V710s and 18x10 rears with 285/30-18s. Still needs more power though. A lot more.

Sure you don't need a co-driver to help you with that?Ken Motonishi wrote:Got my S2000 closer to BSP setup with coil-overs, 18x9 fronts with 245/35-18 V710s and 18x10 rears with 285/30-18s. Still needs more power though. A lot more.

I'm pretty sure I can get some good references.

if i dropped in a stock 2.0 back in the 914, and glue all the interior back in, i may be able to run in DSP.. -_-

protest fodder if i've ever seen it. if you're going to spend time getting the 914 to autox i'd go prepared.Jeff Shyu wrote:i was looking at the classification.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:Sure you don't need a co-driver to help you with that?Ken Motonishi wrote:Got my S2000 closer to BSP setup with coil-overs, 18x9 fronts with 245/35-18 V710s and 18x10 rears with 285/30-18s. +1 -- Why try to put something back to make a car legal for a class in which it won't be competitive?Marshall Grice wrote:protest fodder if i've ever seen it. if you're going to spend time getting the 914 to autox i'd go prepared.Jeff Shyu wrote:i was looking at the classification.Aaron Goldsmith wrote:

I have the Dr. on speed dial if you really wanna know what the car can do, Seb. Only costs about $500 for the flight out here...Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:This is the same car that came a DSQ away from winning a natl championship... Why waste money on that when you have the only two time STS champ out here. ;) I bet you can get Kmo to drive it for your left over lunch.Curt Luther wrote:I have the Dr. on speed dial if you really wanna know what the car can do, Seb. Only costs about $500 for the flight out here...

'Cause the Dr. is faster in it and set it up to begin with. Actually, there's another person on my speed dial who's been pretty fast in it too. He's a bit cheaper as well ;)Jason Isley BS RX8 wrote:Why waste money on that when you have the only two time STS champ out here. ;) I bet you can get Kmo to drive it for your left over lunch.Curt Luther wrote:I have the Dr. on speed dial if you really wanna know what the car can do, Seb. Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
I don't think the 914 is competitive in SCCA no matter what class you put it in, unless you go all out and end up with an AM car or something. Part of the reason why i never strayed into SCCA and stuck with PCA when i had the 914.Bob Beamesderfer wrote:+1 -- Why try to put something back to make a car legal for a class in which it won't be competitive?Marshall Grice wrote:protest fodder if i've ever seen it. if you're going to spend time getting the 914 to autox i'd go prepared.Jeff Shyu wrote:if i dropped in a stock 2.0 back in the 914, and glue all the interior back in, i may be able to run in DSP.. -_-
Anyways, i saw the car over the weekend parked at my parent's house. and started thinking about assembling that 2.0L motor i've got in parts in the garage, and abandon the turbo all-together.

Re: Who's Doing What In 2009
the car in current form, would get completely reamed in the SCCA class book.. probably what CSM was made for.
it started out as a 70 2.0, then we added a mitsu turbo to it, rigged up an air-water intercooler, variable boost timing retard, rising rate fuel pressure regulator, dry sump, etc.
somewhere along the way, the interior got completely gutted and there's an aluminum dash that looks like it can cut someone, fender flares and volvo 4 piston calipers, with 12" brakes.
in the end, it was the boost that killed the project. Of the 8 exhaust studs, the boost stripped the threads on 4 of them. it wasn't really holding any boost at that point..
yes, this is back in the stupid days. now i just want a car that doesn't fall apart.

You got the skills and the car, you just need the courses.
