The word with an 'i' instead of an 'e' was used as a slur against Puerto Ricans when I was growing up in Chicago, although the etymology covers all Spanish-Americans. I have never heard of any variant pronunciation of the s-p-e-c-k. Also, 'speck' in meaning 2 means exactly the visual effect I was describing when the camera zooms out.
