How could I resist? You can actually start autocrossing with only an alignment and race tires. That's how I won my first National Tour. What I have now are single adjustable Koni shocks from 2001 (no longer made), an air filter, Cags bypass, and low-temperature thermostat. Of course it's aligned and has the ride height adjusted. The only change made between street driving and autocross is rear toe and shock settings - both of which I can do myself (don't give me any cra*, people - I can work on my car if I have to although I admit it can be scary!). I have never changed bars or the exhaust. Although you might listen to Uyeda - his cars seem to be so easy to drive it must be superior setup. Rita's Z06 also feels easier to drive although my times are similar in both cars. It will good to have another Z06 driver around!
Leslie's car is probably perfectly setup for Isley... Soft...

But in all seriousness it's somewhat of a preference thing. I don't think you can go wrong with Koni yellows, and that's coming from me, a diehard Penske guy. Penske's are good too though, Robertson has my old doubles. Because of the C5Z's already very short bumpstops, you can't really abuse the stock shock rules as much as you can with other cars, and I think this also limits the advantage to running $$$ shocks somewhat. And like I said, I've heard the stock '04 shocks are pretty decent but I have no real first hand back-to-back experience.
For $550 I would get the front bar just because I like to turn knobs... That may seem like a lot of money to some, but for what you get I think it's actually quite reasonable as it's a nice piece. I've tried to make a front bar for a C5, it's not simple (think S2k...). Wether or not you want more front bar is debatable, but I think with the A6s you can make use of it. Plus I almost always run more front bar at Pros... I also initially thought this was for Max, I figured he could use more front bar since he wouldn't be able to handle the power
I'm hardly very knowledgeable when it comes to C5's though, so I would defer to whatever GTho or LCo say...
My cars are easy to drive because that's necessary when you're hungover!
