Trailer towing guidelines

Given the distance that we typically travel in the LA area to get to/from events, driving at the posted 55 adds a lot of time. I'd like to hear what some of you find as a practical compromise if you are towing a 4x4 or 4x8 Harbor Freight type trailer.
Any tips/tricks/strategies/places to avoid etc would be most appreciated.
My typical route is most likely going to be Thousand Oaks to Willow Springs, Cal Speedway or El Toro with this trailer.
Thanks.

as fast as traffic will allow in the 2nd to the furthest right lane.
cops don't really pay attention to you unless you're outside of the 2 right lanes.

As long as you don't go faster than 63-64 mph and stay in the right lanes you should not have any problems, I have not had any problems towing like that for more than 30K miles.
Speaking of towing, here's some interesting ways of securing your car to a trailer that I've seen lately.
Chain is wrapped around exhaust pipe.

I agree. I often tow the kart at 75-80 to keep with the flow but do stay in the right lanes. And if you haven't already done so, replace the wheel bearing grease with some good high temp synthetic. I only have the 8" wheels and lost a bearing on a trip not long after I got it, wheel locked up and tire melted (rescued by the Berry Family - Thanks

). Put in good grease and no problems since. But cops
will pull over people towing small, lightweight trailers, so you still have to keep an eye out.

Those pics are a riot. I sometimes wonder how some people make it form one day to the next with thinking like that.

I tow typically around 65mph or slower and stay in the right two lanes. No issues yet. Better mpg and less of a target for the CHP...just like others have said.
