Today we went to Apex Kart track Apexracing.com and went to Dave DiMond's Kid Clinic and pre-season warm-up. Wow! What a cool day. A racer is born. 5yrs and 25days old is the starting point of Robert's racing.

Here's a few sample shots...

Robert says he's going to marry both Hannah Montana and the cute girl who works at the kart track.

I'm hoping next year we can get a McLaren development contract.

The next Lewis Hamilton might be a gurl..... Chloe St. George the dark haired girl in the middle of the classroom line up in the red suit is the outgoing 5-7 champ. Arguably the best in the country. She's moved to a rotax kart now as she just turned 8. She's good. I mean like scary good. And focused. Dave would offer coaching suggestions and she'd pick it up immediately. Already great, and easily coachable. Plus, calm, polite, sweet little girl. Robert has a tall mountain to climb to get that good. But today was a great start. I am really concerned how this will translate to a sea of cones though. The 7/10th mile kart track was simply no problem. Navigating one our courses for a 5yo sounds impossible. He says, "no problem daddy".....

Then moving to Utah or the Middle East?

Coach Dave was saying things like "ride the brake and you're going to lose"...... And Robert was going, "Oh No! I don't want to lose!"

"What's this sticky stuff in my pocket?"
.... I must have made the same expression when I discovered I had forgotten the yogurt cup in the pocket of my ski parka ... after I had fallen down on that side!

It was pretty funny watching the class time.

Coach Dave would ask rhetorical questions and Robert would always answer them for the class.
He was late to the last session. "sorry I'm late, Mommie made me potty."
Whenever the coach would point out the bad results of doing something we'd wrong we'd get the "Oh no!"
And whenever it got technical we got the classsic.... "Why?"

Ahhh, I wish I got to do this as a kid. Only if my dad were as cool as you!
