If you were going to buy a new Daily Driver, that ...

... you could eventually also drive in one of our local SK classes, what would it be?

Karen and I were thinking of the new '09 WRX ... which should make a decent DS/SK2 drive. The new WRX's have 265 hp, 2.5 liters, 5 spd and weigh around 300 lbs less then the STI.

You mean besides a GT3?

Annie got rid of her '09 WRX claiming it was a bit boring ... as compared to what she's use to, ie. Max's STI, her own STI, Boxster S, etc. But for us mere mortals, might be OK ... and will be the minimum necessary to go up against Tom Denham & SK2 friends.

Mini (Cooper or S) or Mazda3, but I like my cars small.

Personally, I'd make my 04 Miata my DD and put together an '07 MX-5 MS-R, but that's just me. :)

Eventually Karen's Miata might become her DD ... with the WRX taking over AX duties. But she doesn't like the idea of racing a brand new car ... so it might be our 2010 solo ride.

The Mazda 3 Sport is very nice ... but isn't going to have enough power over the WRX. Is there a lot of aftermarket support for the Mazda3?

Yeah ... the MS-R could follow us into SK2 and become our nightmare. You're right, maybe it would be best to do a preemptive strike and put one together. Dana's is nearing completion. Tim was still up in the air on what he was going to do next year.

I think it was Timmons who had some killer lease deals on Subi in the weekend ads. Now that I have a vacancy in the garage, I was tempted. I still may take a look.

Hi Ly is hopefully going to join us with his GT3. He's looking at getting some 18" CCW wheels, oem is 19", so that he can buy some inexpensive Kumho 710's. Cheap as compared to the VERY expensive oem Pilot Sports!

He did get a new set of oem tires, and he should be at the next practice. His GT3 was such a handful on worn rears last time! :barf:

I think he might be charging $30 per run to help pay for tires. Still, not a bad deal for a chance to drive a 997 GT3 ! :heyes:

THE Killer deal was something like $7,000 off of '08 STI's ! But then one has to run against those S2000's in SK1 ... ask Pete about that. :(

Two words...Camber challenged. More power and a better gearbox isn't going to make it handle better.

I say buy one and build it for ESP over the next year.

ESP WRX ... that was always the Dream, and Barco's truncated plan. :(

What about a 2009 Mazda 3 (regular version)? You will be able to get 170 BHP with the 2.5L. Should be H Stock.

Cooper (either would be cool too) great MPG on the DD side.

Miata - Heck, i have an S2000 and i still want a Miata.

Funny - been looking at S2000s and getting rid of my Miata, but then I look at the running costs of each and end up sticking with the Miata! Now, if only my 04 was as light as the 99 Sport...

I think only the Mazdaspeed3 is in D-stock. The other two engines for the 3 are in H-stock.

For newbie Hi Ly, running his 997 GT3 in ASP with the Lynches would be a good start.

Shhhh .... Karen would like a truck! But they aren't good for carrying big piles of motion picture camera gear ... without a secure top. A fellow cameraman had a $15,000 zoom lens in case stolen when someone just grabbed it out of the back of his pickup, while he was stopped at a stoplight!

Our house is blessed with five parking spots (2 car garage, 2 auto car port, plus one spot to the side of the garage ... not including unlimited street parking ... although one needs a permit for overnight street parking here in South Pasadena ... available from a 24 hour automated kiosk. But we will only have three vehicles ...

The not yet all moved in mess:

How many Mazda 3s have you driven? At least it's not an overweight turbo car.

It's called a crew cab. And why would anyone put a $15k piece of equipment in the open bed of a pickup truck?

Sweet! Storage solved...Can I bring a car over?
A truck with a locking cover, a big cab, and one of those cool sliding bed things like Simanyi has would be just fine! I bet you could find a trailer cheap too. CSP will let you tinker to your heart's content....wait that's no good ;) maybe you should stick to stock class.

It's what happens when you entrust your equipment to the production company and the low paid Production Asst. is told to take the camera package to the airport in his personal vehicle. The production companies insurance would have been responsible.
